When I logout of EasySocial using any of the available menu links or modules, I get an error "This webpage has a redirect loop".

Can someone please explain why this is happening. I'm currently working on a local MAMP installation so can't share my site, but it's a clean install with no modifications to EasySocial or website yet.

cheers
Andrew
Hello Andrew,

Can I know what is the configuration / settings for logout redirection URL? I can't really tell what issue is this unless I take a look at the site

Where do I set that?

I'm using an EasySocial Menu item "EasySocial » Logout Action" and there is no option to set this.

Hello Andrew McDonald,

Sorry for late reply to this,
If you're logout from the module, you can configure the setting for logout from the module.
If you're mentioned that using the menu item "EasySocial » Logout Action" , there is no option for this.
Can I have your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can help you check this quickly? Please advise.

hello Andrew McDonald,

I'm really sorry that delayed of this reply,
I have noticed you set the EasySocial - Dashboard menu items access to Registered, which mean that when you tried to logout from your dashboard page, then it will keep redirect until blank page, when i set this menu item access to public, it work fine now.

Hope this help.

Hey Ariex

The reason I set it to Registered is because I only want registered people to see the Dashboard. I don't want the public to see what is going on. What is the best solution to have access to only registered people, but not have a login loop?

cheers

I noticed you solved the logout redirect problem (from my other post), but can you please help me solve the question from this thread.

"The reason I set it to Registered is because I only want registered people to see the Dashboard. I don't want the public to see what is going on. What is the best solution to have access to only registered people, but not have a login loop?"

Also, I have set the login redirect to Dashboard, but it doesn't work. When you login using my main menu Login you remain on the same page, you don't get redirected.

Can you please take a look when you get a chance.

cheers

Hey Andrew,
Go to Settings > General settings: Enable lockdown mode

//////////
By enabling lockdown mode, only users with an account will be allowed to access the system.
//////////

Maybe that will solve it?

Hey Ryan

That helps, but it's still not ideal. The problem is that I don't want any un-registered people to be able to see a "community" menu item at all. I only want it to visible for registered members like my other menu items for members only.

Is there no workaround for this?

cheers
Andrew

Hello Andrew,

If you want users to not see the menu item then all you need to do is to create a menu item that will be visible to public members. Then, configure the logout redirection to logout to a specific menu that is available to the public. This way, when the user log out they will automatically be redirected to the public menu item.

The problem is that I was told by Ariex that the login loop error was created due to having the Dashboard/Community page set as Registered. Getting a bit confused now

Hello Andrew McDonald,

I have a little bit lost here
"The reason I set it to Registered is because I only want registered people to see the Dashboard. I don't want the public to see what is going on. What is the best solution to have access to only registered people, but not have a login loop?"

After found out that issues is causing from your logout redirection set to "blog"since I have changed back this menu item access to Registered now.
Now the public/guest user will not see this menu item "community/dashboard". Am i missing something here?

I'm having the same problem.. we have dashboard set to registered and when the user logs out they get redirect loop http://kosi.co/index.php?Itemid=2197&option=com_easysocial&lang=en. The menu item is "easy social group->heart of freedom" which is a subscription only "open" group.
the subscription is being handled via payplan.

All you need to do to fix this is to create a hidden menu item for the account view and set this menu item as "Public".
