Hi,

When a user registers or edits profile, I want let him know which fields appears on profile page.
Plus, I want let the registering users know the site will show real name or username.
Possible?
Hello masanori oyama,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.
Do you referring on the notice message for inform your site user which custom field will be display on profile page and which username/fullname will be display on profile page?

If yes, unfortunately that was not possible now. All is handling by admin.

hello Masanori,

You're welcome,

Hmm, actually if you set the custom field "required", so that when you ignore that "required" custom field and click submit button, it will show the error message and tell the user you must key in the value. If you would not like the message content, you can modify it from language file.
Check my screenshot below.

By the way, thanks for your suggestion.

Arlex,

Thank you.
Yeah, but for example, if "email address" is a required field, a registering user may hesitate to submit because it is not sure for him that field is visible to the others or not.

@masanori that's an interesting suggestion. Meanwhile if you need a solution today you could always use the custom field description area or use the "Text" custom field type and enter BB Code. For example, here's the BB code to include one of the icons you'd like to show to a user:

  [img ]https://www.joomlapolis.com/components/com_comprofiler/plugin/templates/joomlapolis/images/mini-icons/icon-16-required.png[/img]

You'd need to use your own icons on your server or CDN. This is just an illustration. It's not a perfect solution but maybe this is a work-around you can do that doesn't require you to know how to write codes?

FYI, these days the risks of Facebook are often pointed in Japan.
So many people are careful to use real name on the web.
But some situations admin user wants real name to manage the members.
I think some admin users may hide real name on frontend but requires that fields.
In that case, we must tell the registering users that real name is not shown.

Hello Masanori,

Sorry for late reply to this,
May i know your site already set hide the full name display on user profile in current setting?

If yes, what my suggestion is you can modify the description from your language file -> JoomlaFolder/administrator\language\xx-XX\xx-XX.com_easysocial.ini
COM_EASYSOCIAL_FIELDS_PROFILE_DEFAULT_DESIRED_USERNAME
COM_EASYSOCIAL_FIELDS_PROFILE_DEFAULT_DESIRED_USERNAME_DESC

So that it will show out the message when the new user registration form.

By the way, we will consider this in the future and see which solution will be good for this situation.
