Sorry, but the site is only accessible via ssh key. Clearly the issue is simply a case of a missing file. Here is a partial match listing of the files installed by EasyDiscuss in the com_easydiscuss/themes/simplistic directory:

-rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 855 Jun 30 17:57 field.form.attachments.item.ejs
-rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 3004 Jun 30 17:57 field.form.attachments.php
-rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 846 Jun 30 17:57 field.form.password.php
-rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 821 Jun 30 17:57 field.form.polls.answer.ejs
-rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 3302 Jun 30 17:57 field.form.polls.php
-rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 2259 Jun 30 17:57 field.form.references.php
-rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 4315 Jun 30 17:57 field.form.site.php

This is version 3.2.9463 BTW.

The site we have is a demo site for a new product we are bringing to market. We are going to recommend that our customers purchase and install the EasyDiscuss/EasyBlog components to enable blogging and forums on their sites, and I don't want to have them installing patches. I checked the zip file of the EasyDiscuss component package and the file in question is not there.

It would be preferable to us and our customers that the package install with all files present and not require a patch, so could you simply prepare a new version of this package with the file in question added to it?

Hello Robert E Wallace,

Sorry for late reply to this,
We are hard to tell you what is the issues causing your site hitting missing file without access your site.
Because We have many of customer installed the latest version of Easydiscuss, everything is working fine.
By default, if your site file permission all is writable, when you doing the installation, that must be install all the file properly in your site.

Can you reinstall again and see is it got hitting any permission issues? Please advise.

Arlex, the warning is reported in the Apache server error log and not displayed in the UI. I'm not sure what the consequences of this warning are, but nonetheless, there is a file missing. I've installed it several times, the permissions are fine, and the simple fact of the matter is that the component package zip file does not contain the missing file. Take a look yourself, unzip the latest distribution a take a look in the site/themes/simplistic directory, the file is not there.

The file that is missing is called 'com_easydiscuss/themes/simplistic/field.form.attachments.fileinput.ejs' and was not present in either of the screencasts that I watched, thus confirming that is is in fact missing.

I'm sorry that I missed up your first post php error,
By the way, I have checked in our development, actually we already removed this file com_easydiscuss/themes/simplistic/field.form.attachments.fileinput.ejs since 7 month ago for some of the reason. May i know do you have facing other issues from your Easydiscuss user interface?

Arlex, I feel like we are having a bit of a problem communicating. It took us 10 forum posts to get back to the question I asked in the first post. Either the file in question is required, or it isn't. If it isn't why is the product generating a warning message? Clearly there is some code somewhere that is trying to load it. All I want is a version of your product that doesn't generate messages in the error_log, and I don't want to have to apply any patches to make the warning go away. Perhaps the development team should look into this and figure out why the product is attempting to load a file that has apparently been removed 7 months ago.

So, again, I ask, when can your company release a clean version of EasyDiscuss that doesn't generate this error message?

Thank you.

Can you try download my attachment file and replace in your site?
JoomlaFolder\media\com_easydiscuss\scripts\attachments.json

Then try run the compile command?
http://yoursitename.com/index.php?option=com_easydiscuss&compile=1&minify=1

Also try remove all the old script file example :

easydiscuss-3.2.9422.static.js
easydiscuss-3.2.9422.optimized.min.js

and see how it goes?

Yes, it worked. But I'm going to ask again: when can you release a version of EasyDiscuss that will not require a patch as it does now? i know I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but requiring patches to be applied just won't work for us.

Thanks.

That's great, but it's now been 3 weeks since your last reply and there has still not been a new version released?? So, I'm going to ask yet again: when can you release a version of EasyDiscuss that will not require a patch as it does now?
