Dear Komento Support Team,

Thank you for the free commenting component Komento. I first installed and used Komento with version 2.0.8 and all has been going well until the release of version 2.0.9. If you are going to provide a free component along with online documentation and changelog, you should at least reflect potential problems in any documentation and changelog with an update whether the user is a paid subscriber or not. A consistent transition from one version to the next is not always possible, but after reading post on the forum it seems not to be possible with Komento.

The issues with Kuro template are now known with the free version, being it simply does not work. As mentioned on these threads:

http://stackideas.com/forums/komento-doesn-t-work-after-upgrading

http://stackideas.com/forums/my-recaptcha-stopped-working-in-komento-possibly-with-latest-update

The Wireframe template gives a completely different look and the submit button does not work on my site. Is there any way to resolve this? I had to reinstall Komento 2.0.8 as Komento 2.0.9 does not seem functional or stable for its free users. Do you actually test the component for free users of Komento? Do you really expect users of the free component to pay for a support subscription to have their site looked at resulting from the consequences of changes you have made and that users have not been informed about? I hope you can resolve the issues mentioned in this post before you, inevitably, release the next update of Komento.

Kind Regards

SJ
Hello SJ,

I am sorry for the issue you were facing with 2.0.9. As I mentioned in http://stackideas.com/forums/komento-doesn-t-work-after-upgrading , the issue is because we have added/fixed something in Kuro theme and unfortunately it is not included in 2.0.9 since we have decided to use Wireframe as a default theme. However, I will discuss with the team about including Kuro in the free version.

As for the Submit button not working on your site, seems like it is not a known issue for us as we can't replicate it in our local with a free version installed.

Dear Nick & Arlex,

Thank you for your reply and your attempts to resolve the problems I am having with the Komento 2.0.9 update. The files for the fixes you provided did not fix the issues completely. I say this only because if the System Environment is set to “Static” the Kuro template does not accept the recaptcha and the Wireframe submit button does not work. However, if the System Environment is set to “Development”, the forms for both templates work normally.

As “Static” is recommended over “Development” what are the consequences of using the Development option? Would it be just possible to reconfigure the files to work with the Static option? I hope that you can produce a solution to allow the normal function and the recommended configuration for Komento to work as it did in v2.0.8.

Kind Regards

SJ

Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

The development mode mean system will load every single script on the page, but the static mode will load 1 script which is all the script already compressed together.

By the way, can you try run this following compile URL from your backend and see how it goes?

http://yourdomain.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_komento&compile=1&minify=1

Hello Arlex,

Thanks for your reply. The compilation solution you offered above did not work. In fact it produced an error. I’m aware of the script loading features with the Static or Development selection. There is no notable difference in the page load with the Development option.

I have just noticed that with the fix you provided with editor.php and recaptcha.php files, ONLY the Firefox browser requires the Development option for the form to work normally, I happen to use the Firefox browser more for development purposes. In the Chrome, Safari & Opera browsers there are NO problems using the Static option and the form function is a normal. Hmmm… Any idea why this would happen with Firefox? Thank you for your time and effort with this matter.

Kind Regards,

SJ

Try update this following file in your site JoomlaFolder\media\foundry\3.1\libraries\closure.php

// LINE 32
const URL = 'http://deployer.stackideas.com:1280';

//replace with
const URL = 'http://oauth.stackideas.com/compiler';

Then run this URL again http://yourdomain.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_komento&compile=1&minify=1 and see how it goes.

Hello Arlex,

Thanks for your reply. The URL change to the closure.php file along with the compile URL, specifically for my site, worked and generated the index.php file. Unfortunately, there is no change in the function to submit comments. I still get the “Captcha required” message and the Submit button remains grey instead of transforming to blue after the Captcha is completed.

The comment form still works normally with the Firefox browser, after selecting the System Environment's Development mode, and normally in other browsers in Static mode. Do have any other suggestions to allow the form to function normally as it did in Komento 2.0.8?

Kind Regards,

SJ
