I've migrated our K2 blog with 1700+ items to EasyBlog. In K2 we were able to set an alias of the author, so the post would not be related to the actual user adding the item, but it would be a 'fake' author, and the items would not show in the users bloglist.
We used this very often when posting news, with press releases we received from other organizations, crediting them for the text. With the migration, the aliases are gone and all items are set to the users posting the items.

Is there an author alias feature and how can we migrate the original aliases?
Hello Steven,

Unfortunately we do not have the "author alias" feature in EasyBlog as each blog posts are actually associated with a real user on the site.

Unlike K2, EasyBlog has a profile system built into it which allows visitors to click on the authors name to view a list of blog posts created by them.

Perhaps this feature could be useful for sites like this and if you could submit this as a feature request at http://stackideas.com/voices/easyblog , it would be much appreciated.

I will submit this feature. For now, we'll have to create at least one 'fake' user/author (something like: editorial staff) and assign these news items to this user.

Hello Steven,

Yep, temporarily I think that would be ideal but in the long run, I think it's best you could split your posts to several users It'll make more sense.

That would imply we should create as much users as we have author aliases. Not an real option, since we have more than a hundred aliases… (On the other hand, we do have 500+ users in our system actually connected to content the articles, but they are not entitled to post articles)

Come to think of it, the alias isn't something typical of K2. The Joomla articles also have the author alias option.
