When I'm viewing the list of discussions within any particular subcategory, is there a way to show the parent of that category somewhere there (i.e. a breadcrumb back up to the parent level)?

I'm really sorry for late reply to this,
You also can install this mod_easydiscuss_navigation.zip module in your top position, this module is display your category item in the navigation bar
Also, i have noticed the Joomla site already have installed the default breadcrumb, please have a check my screenshot : http://screencast.com/t/sXq2Sm7Fc
Hope this help.

I gave the navigation module a try but it just shows a list of the top level categories and none of the lower level categories. So if I'm in the following category:
Regions -> Asia -> Japan -> Tokyo
... and want to go to...
Regions -> Asia -> Japan -> Osaka
... one should be able to have a link back to the parent of "Japan" and not go all the way to the top level category of "Regions" to drill back down to Osaka.
Frankly, every forum software that I've used in the past 10 years has that ability. I assumed EasyDiscuss would have it too.
We just purchased EasyDiscuss and are attempting to migrate from vBulletin to EasyDiscuss. So we will be making a decision soon before our 30 days is out on whether EasyDiscuss can replace vBulletin on our site.
Thanks for the information. -- Rik
