I am implementing it on a company intranet, and am looking to just have everyone friended with everyone automatically -- is there a way to do this?
Same question. Family sharing site. Would be great if everyone would be automatically friends!

Hello John,

It's not possible currently but we do plan to enhance the friends app in the future to allow this to happen

Would turning the friends system off completely, setting the default front page to 'everyone', and setting default privacy on everything to public help? I would think that would be the easiest way to achieve what you guys are trying to do.

I think that could be one of the solution too

I was under the impression that the friends system cannot be turned off "completely"?

hey steven,
that's right - currently you can't turn off the friends system - I guess this was more an "idea" for the future than a current workaround
but as mark already said we'll see what we can do in the future to enhance the friends system in general.

I was suggesting it as a current work around, hiding the friends stuff is not that hard, only requires commenting out a few lines of code, and the rest of the setting are in the admin section.

Yeah you can customize it to hide the "friends" portion but that's probably on the theme customization area As pointed out above by Jthm0138, you can easily customize this by removing them from the theme files. We don't have a "settings" for it yet.

Hello Paul, John, Mark, Steven and everyone,

For those interested,
I've added a user plugin for that task.
It processes when new users register and add them to one (Like Myspace's Tom) or more specific friends, or to every users friends (as requested here).

Very easy to use:
Just add the user ID for the friend to be added (comma separated list if more than one friend)
Or set the Friends Party mode to have every new users added to everyones friends.

It's here

OOOOOO.... Would you mind if I stole that and modified it for one of the things I am working on?

I have been developing a modified badge system, and with a little work this would make my modified badge system work wonderfully.
