Where we are it is now the weekend; so there might be a slight delay in our reply. Thanks for understanding!Integration with jomsocial

Hi
How does ED interact with Jomsocial besides the activities and points? I did have a look in the demo backend, but I am unsure if the profiles can link to Jomsocial instead of the profile system in ED.
I am looking for something to replace the groups in Jomsocial and ED seems to be a way to go :-)Greg Correll likes this post.

Hello Lars,
Ah, I think that GroupJive site is pretty old and hasn't been updated but if you take a look at http://joomlapolis.com , they have their own repository for GroupJive.

Hello Lars,
Ouch, sorry to hear that. Not too sure what has been done on their groups, it's been a while since I played around with JomSocial
Okay, let me get this right. So you basically want to use a forum instead and from what I see here, you can actually take control for this with the user groups on Joomla 1.7 (Not sure if JomSocial has changed the way of their groups behavior) but basically, what you can do is to create user groups in Joomla, and assign the users into the groups (Purely from the core users functionality in Joomla). Then, assign the groups into the specific categories that you want them to be contributing in.
Have you heard of GroupJive? I am actually given the task to integrate EasyDiscuss with GroupJive but haven't really been playing through it yet. It's a group functionality which integrates with Community Builder, not sure about JomSocial though.

Hi Mark
Its both. Groups are pretty much crap when it comes to discussions so its both usability and functionality. the discussions itself is awfull and in terms of usability its very hard for users to navigate back and forth in group discussions. I was happy when I read this about version 2.4:
http://www.jomsocial.com/blog/reimagining-content-distribution-in-social-fabric.html
However, nothing was introduced and they even managed to make the discussions harder to get to, by putting them in a tab. So, i have given up on the discussions and thereby also the groups. I did consider ways to replace the discussions but the groups would still suck, so I am going for a more traditional forum instead

Hello Lars,
The profile integrations in EasyDiscuss 2 will actually link all names into JomSocial's profile instead of it's own when you configure it to use avatars from JomSocial
As for the groups, would you mind letting me know what sort of work around that you are currently looking at to replace the discussions in the groups? Is it the functionality or the usability?

That could be good, but I am fed up with the groups in Jomsocial and broken promises by the dev's regarding groups, so I am going "old school" with a forum instead of groups, as the main problems with the groups would need more work than a plugin, I am afraid.
So, back to the question about profile integration :-)
