If Video's are implemented into ES 1.4, would it use HTML5 or flash? Personally I really hope HTML5 is the chosen method. This would be one less major dependency, flash has issues sometimes, and HTML5 is browser native.

Just curious. Thinking about this stuff ahead of time.
HTML5 is definitely the way to go but it would depends if there are any limitations on specific browsers.

Old browsers may struggle. IE9+ should do just fine as well as the obvious browsers. Perhaps if we are worried about old browsers a fall back method could be made? Or an option to chose HTML5 or flash viewing. As of 2014 I have chosen to drop support for IE8 and below except for special cases.

I believe we will definitely go with HTML5 just like plupload we opted in for html 5. Anyway we haven't even have the time to start working on EasySocial 1.4 because most of our time have been on the forums answering questions like "Will 1.4 have this?", "Will you consider this?"

Great to hear HTML5 is being seriously considered. Wow, plupload worked amazing well! I saw it months ago on the road map but finally decided to look into it. Will it be the new standard for photos too? The current method is great, but plupload might be better (previews before uploading the photo are pretty handy).

Regarding the work, I was aware of this. EasyBlog5 is the current main focus as I understand. I've heard that eventually you plan on looking over some "voices", I hope this is done after EB5. I've got some ideas, but would like some improvements to the voices section (when the time is right of course). This thread was made in hopes to assure the best practices used for the up coming feature rather than a request of timings and "add this for me" like requests.

Hello Josh,

We are actually already using PLUpload on our photos just that we don't really use all their features but in EasyBlog 5, you will see some examples of plupload's preview implementation

We tend to always learn from our past mistakes or improper implementations on previous releases and try to work them up again when we refactor codes. I guess this is just a normal software development life cycle Basically some of what you see on EasyBlog 5 will be implemented on EasySocial 1.4 and we will improvise on those functionality.
