How to set default privacy by "Unique Key"

I've a custom field (Text Box) which is used for a user to enter his mobile number, i've set a unique key for this field as "MOBILENUMBER".

There is a privacy tab in profile types which has an option for set privacy for "TEXT BOX", but i rekon that this will be universal for all text boxes used in custom fields (e.g education, College...)

Now how can i set a default privacy to "Only Me" for Mobile number which has a unique key "MOBILENUMBER"

As i want the user to opt for showing his mobile number publicly by editing his privacy after registration, and not have our site showing his mobile number publicly by default.

Unfortunately currently this is not possible. We will see if we can include this in the future.

Thanks for your response, but is there any other way for the time being (hardcoding in template?), because showing a users mobile number without his consent would be very bad.

Hi,

Unfortunately currently there is no "quick hack" to get around this. The user will have to set the privacy when he/she edits his/her profile.

Hi Jason,

Any updates on privacy by Unique key? As users mobile numbers are visible to all, a major issue, as users are deleting their Mobile number by editing their profile.

Just want to add to this to see if it is now possible that when a new user profile is created you can set the default privacy setting for fields rather than have to tell them to change it. I'm not sure I even understand why there is a privacy option that just controls ALL text boxes etc. Being to fine tune privacy and help users is very important (as a big social network out there found!)
