I'm trying to control the way comments are displayed.

When many comments are entered by users, how do we control how many will be displayed? (see URL)
I found a setting in Layout-General... currently set to "3"... Is this the number of comments that will be displayed in the list of the page shown in the URL entered below?
If so, what happens when more comments than this number exist?
Cheers,
G
Hello G,

The setting you have mentioned above is not for comment listing in the blog entry. It is for comment listing in the frontpage. By default, the comment listing in the blog entry is set to 20 for every page. Abd we are sorry currently, there is no setting to set the limit yet but you we can send the hack file if you want. Sorry for this inconvenience.

Thanks Nick,
Sure! Can you please provide the hack?
Once again we're very disappointed at the the lack of control EB offers. We purchased it thinking such relatively standard controls would be integrated and available. It seems every time we want to change the front-end experience to users, a hack needs to be executed.
Lesson learned, we should have examined EB closer.

Regardless, thanks for the continued support and for consistently wanting to help, despite all these EasyBlog flaws and shortcomings.
I look forward to the hack (I hope it will allow the user to page through all the comments.

Hello G,

We are sorry for this lack of setting. Here is the hack for the comment display. Replace it in ../components/com_easyblog/models/blog.php. You can change the limit for each page on line 126. I've put it 5 as the limit. Hope this helps.

Thanks Nick,
Before I implement this... does this hack offer pagination? That is, if there are 9 comments, the user can see them all by paging, correct?

Thank you! That's good.

I'm trying to reduce the number of hacks I have for EB. It'll be a nightmare when I have to update EB for my clients and... They will not gain some of the new bug fixes and features from updates and... I increase the chances of the site breaking from mixing old/new code.
Will this be implemented in the next release?
