Hi folks,
When adding comments, we need a better editor. The "add image" feature requesting a URL is not user-friendly at all for a non-technical user.

How can I provide a better, more user-friendly editor to those who enter comments on the site?
Cheers
Hello Gilles,

I am really sorry but unfortunately right now we do not have any other editors for the comments area and we will never be adding a WYSIWYG editor to a comment area simply because it's too heavy to render on blog pages. Believe me, we tried and it's never going to be good because of the lags it causes.

Thanks Mark,
Yikes! This is not good news. As you may have seen from the site and its purpose, sharing of images plays an important role.
but... I do understand that sometime, something that seems easy, technically is not.

What can I tell my client? Do you have a tip I could give visitors to the site to easily add images, given the limitations?
I'm open to suggestions.

Hello Gilles,

It really does not make any sense at all to load a WYSIWYG editor in a comment form. Look at all the famous blogs around and none of them actually have any sophisticated comment form system. It will just cause the entire site to load too slow.

I see and understand Mark.
I'm really trying to find a way for non-technical visitors to this site to include pictures.
Is there a way to easily add "attachments" to a comment then?

Hello Gilles,

You can try Komento It allows you to attach files in a comment. There's a free and a Pro version

OK... Just curious, Mark,
Any plan on making adding images to comments more user friendly in the future?

Yes we do have plans to add this in the future but our priority right now is to push EasyBlog 4. If you really need this, do consider Komento as an alternative as it integrates with EasyBlog too.

I see, good to hear Mark.
If I were to use Komento, I guess I would have to re-engineer the work I've done on the site correct? I couldn't easily just add the "add image" feature to what I currently have (all EB entries).
Thanks for your patience with my many questions. I'm trying to make the best of a poor situation as my client expected to be able to easily add images when I suggested EB.

Hello Gilles,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Hm, not sure if I understand you here. Komento is just a comments app and it's actually integrated with EasyBlog too. You don't have to replace the blogs

Hi Mark,
I don't see it. I just see the icon for adding an image, via the "unfriendly" url...

Hello Gilles,

Oh, you mean comments, sorry but no we will not be adding attachments in comments. What I meant was the blog post and media manager

How unfortunate, I was starting to jump for joy .
How is someone new to commenting, the average person, supposed to use the picture icon in EB commenting?
How should they use the URL field?

Hello Gilles,

The only way right now is for you to use the image embed url in the bbcode. You cannot upload files when posting a comment currently and if you do need it, you should use Komento and since it is free, it's available to you without any charges at all
