One of my bloggers just asked how to edit his bio and I am having a hard time finding it. I have not found it for myself either. I must be missing something basic.

Here is a page where you can see our bloggers and their bios:
https://www.starch-smart.com/blog/blogger

Can you tell me where a blogger is to go to edit their bio?

I also use EasySocial on this site and maybe that is complicating things because we use EasySocial for the login management?

Thanks for a pointer in the right direction.

Hi Sean,

I've make some hacks in the file:
JOOMLA_FOLDER\media\com_easysocial\apps\fields\user\easyblog_biography\themes\default\display_content.php
It should show Blog biography without the html tags now
Please have a looks : http://screencast.com/t/E7xbjVmd

Hi Sean,

Download the blog bio from the apps directory and install it. Then add the bio field to the registration type you want to have it. Your users would fill it in on full registration (or quick reg if you set it to display there)

Later, they should be able to edit it by editing their profile.

I hope I understood your question -- it's the weekend but I am sure someone will be along to help you if I misunderstood what you are looking for.

Good luck,

Bridgette

Hello Sean,

As Bridgette mentioned above, when you have EasySocial integrated with EasyBlog, the authors wouldn't be able to edit their profile from within EasyBlog because then they will have multiple areas to update their profile.

We have unified this by allowing your authors to also edit their biography when they edit their profile in EasySocial with the help of the Biography custom field app that Bridgette posted above.

Thank you Bridgette and Mark,

I had an older version of the EasyBlog Biographies installed. So, I updated to a newer version. I then also added a section to the profiles and added the app. So, it is working now.

Although I did notice that it seems that we can can no longer put HTML into the bio because otherwise the HTML code is displayed. I am looking now at my bio:

https://www.starch-smart.com/social/profile/sean-carney/about/3
This is under the sidebar Apps->About->Personal

What displays is the HTML code that was previously created the profiles within EasyBlog.

BTW, MY bio works great with the HTML on the following page:
https://www.starch-smart.com/blog/blogger?limit=5&start=5

I am wondering whether there is a way to use a WYSIWYG editor like JCE? Or, what would be the best way to deal with this?

Thank you very much,

PS. I did not create a new ticket because this seemed related but if you want I can create a new ticket.

Hi Sean,

Can you download the attached file and replace it in the folder:
JOOMLA_FOLDER\media\com_easysocial\apps\fields\user\easyblog_biography\themes\default\display_content.php
and see the bio in the Easysocial about profile, is it display as you want?

You're suggested to backup the file that you want to replace beforehand for precaution

Thank you very much. I replaced the file and cleared the caches. But, the problem was not fixed. The HTML code still shows:

Biography: <p>Sean Carney is married to <a href="http://www.drcarney.com" target="_blank" title="Linda Carney MD">Linda Carney MD</a> and assists her with the administration of her practice at <a href="http://www.allmedphysicians.com" target="_blank" title="AllMedPhysicians, pLLC">AllMedPhysicians, pLLC</a> as well as manages the technology behind the web sites, videos, DVDs, books, and of course the office network. He also cooks and cleans and does laundry.</p>
