How do I schedule a blog post?
-
I'm trying to schedule a blog post, but I can't find where to create that option. Under publishing status on the back-end, I only have access to Published and Unpublished. And while I can enter in a future date/time in the Publishing Date section, if I indicate the status as Unpublished, it won't publish. And if I indicate the status as Published, it is immediately published to the blog.
I'm sure there must be an easy answer... I just can't find it anywhere. Thanks for any help!

Hello,
To schedule the blog post, what you should do is set the blog to 'publish' and set the publishing date to future date. EasyBlog will automatically mark the post under 'scheduled'. How EasyBlog turn these scheduled posts into 'published'? Currently EasyBlog will run a script everytime some one access to your EasyBlog pages from frontend. So, meaning to say, you will need someone to access your EasyBlog pages from frontend to trigger the script execution
If you still cant schedule the post, then can you send me your Joomla backend access and i will then take a look into your issue again
By the way, are you using the latest version of EasyBlog? Please advise.
Hope this help and have a nice day

Hello Kim,
I am sorry for the late reply.
Ah, glad to hear your issue now resolved. Anyway, changing the creation date shouldn't affect your schedule post. You just need to set the publish date to future but offcourse, your creation date cannot be later than your publish date
Sure, let us know how is your scheduled posts whether it work or not
Have a nice day

Not sure if I should start a new thread but.....
So, the only way a scheduled post will get posted is if someone visits the blog site from the front end around the time that the post is scheduled?
Meaning, the post won't go live unless someone visits the site. I was wondering why my post didn't go live. Only until I viewed the site did it get published. Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/j4UZx.png

Hello Evan,
I am sorry for the late reply.
Yes, you are right. Currently in EasyBlog, to publish a scheduled post, someone will need to access to your EasyBlog from frontend. This is because currently there is no automation for this process
The only time the process triggered is when someone visit your EasyBlog pages via frontend. I will see if we can put this process into cron, something like how the cron work for the email notification send process in EasyBlog
Hope this help and have a nice day

I have tried doing this and it simply won't work.
I scheduled a blog entry for today at 11.59 AM. Visited the frontend around that time, not published. Checked the time on the server, correct. Changed the time to 10.59 (maybe daylight savings interferes). Visited the frontend several times. Not published. Changed time to 12.13 PM at 12.11. Waited and visited the front end again and again. Not published. Also tried logging out from frontend. Not published.
This simply doesn't work.
Also, the documentation about whether or not an auto published entry will be published to social networks like facebook and twitter at the same time is missing. Will it?
Also, whats up with the AM/PM-crap for entering publishing times? My site is in Europe, where we use 24 hour clocks.

Hello Ola,
I am really sorry for the delay of this reply. I did not realize your post here as this was actually under the wrong category.

In the earlier versions of EasyBlog we actually used 24 hour based format but because it seems like many user's has requested to have a standard AM/PM in the time selection, we have used the AM/PM format instead. I have to agree that this doesn't apply to European countries though. Will add this to our issue tracker for EasyBlog 4.
Now, back to your issues with the scheduling, is it possible for you to provide me with the back end and FTP access to your site so that I can check on this?n00bster likes this post.
