We've set up a housing forum with guest posting and I've been able to turn off most of the extras, but I can't seem to kill the active links that are on a name once someone has posted. If you click their name, it takes you to a login screen. I just want the names to be non-link text. Is there a way to do this? I don't mind hacking some template files if I have to.

thanks!
Mark modified the frontpage.post.php to remove the links and also the bar that was appearing under the name that when hovered over changed the name to "no ranking" so we're good now.

thanks!

Hello Brian Peat

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.
I have checked in your site, it seems like you have manually remove some of the profile permalink code from your file? check my screenshot : http://screencast.com/t/IPkoYVUEOkFR
By default the guest name shouldn't including in guest permalink. then when you click the link, it shouldn't redirect to login page. Is it possible provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can help you check on this? Please advise.

I was off all weekend so I didn't respond. I actually didn't manually remove the code, I just turned things off in the admin. I override a few things, but nothing related to the profiles.

I honestly don't know. I went through and unchecked anything related to the profile.

I override the frontpage_category to change the post button to button-success so it made the post button green (the smaller button, not the giant ask button).

I overrode some of the css also, but otherwise I didn't mod the template or any core files.

I'm not so sure it needs to be reinstalled. In a normal setup, like your forum, the avatar or user name in the left sidebar links to the user's profile. In our site we are doing 100% guest posting with the captcha turned on (we'll moderate if spam becomes an issue). So because it's just guests, the profile doesn't exist and it seems that it's instead taking the user to a login screen.

The question I have is, if I set up a stock copy of easyblog and a guest posts, what is the normal behavior for their name on the left side of their post? Is it supposed to NOT be a link and my copy has a link that shouldn't be there? Is that why you want to reinstall it?

Just looking for clarity on this.

thanks!
