Hello,

I am currently using EB 3.9.24862. As I indicated in a recent forum, I tried EB5, but because of numerous problems, I restored my files and database to a backup of my website that predated the EB5 installation. Consequently, I assume this problem is unrelated to EB5.

Here is the current problem: when I attempt to open any blog article (or create a new article) on the backend, I receive the following message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined method EB::request() in /home/nicapc00/public_html/pmsjoomla/administrator/components/com_easyblog/models/model.php on line 40

The frontpage seems fine; blog articles are visible.

I have created a super user account for you to access the backend of my website and I have placed access information into the Site Details for you.

Please help.

Thank you,

Glenn
Hey Glenn,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Thanks! The access finally worked. It looks like the files in /administrator/components/com_easyblog/models/ aren't restored to the pre-EB5 version. Hence, you were hitting these errors. I have restored them for you, can you try this again?

By the way, what issues were you having with EasyBlog 5 that made you revert to 3.x?

Hi Glenn,

I am sorry for the late reply.

May I know how does you restore your site from EasyBlog 5 to EasyBlog 3.9? I have inspected your site and I believe there are several files still from EasyBlog 5. May I have your permission to re-install EasyBlog 3.9 on your site so that this can help fix the issue.

Please do remember that this installation will override your customization on EasyBlog. If you do have customize it, we advise you to backup the files.

Please advise.

Hello Mohd,

Yes, please go ahead and re-install EB 3.9. I exported my settings to a .json file. If I import this file once you re-install EB3.9, will my settings be restored?

In answer to your question, I restored an earlier version (pre-EB5) of the files, folders, and database through my Siteground cpanel.

Thanks,

Glenn

Hello Mark,

Thank you for fixing the problem. It does now appear that everything is working again.

As for your question, I actually detailed this in another recent forum, in reply to Arlex, who asked a similar question. So I copied and pasted my reply, for you, as follows:

With the BT patch, the website was once again visible. However, the BT module was rendered useless. It opened to a screen that was impossible to make and save adjustments to. Meanwhile, even with EB5.0.17, xmap sites, both html and xml, did not work. Despite settiing and re-setting, and even re-creating, these pages simply did not work. While other pages on the frontend became visible with the BT patch, both frontend xmap pages were blank. Moreover, I had to fix/restore quite a number of settings on other pages, such as re-adding side-menus. The EB archives also did not show up, despite my repeated efforts to configure it. In addition, quite a few of the EB features simply did not work. I use a JSN template and several extensions, but my website is not fancy or all that complex.

Thanks again for your help.

Hey Glenn,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Ah I see, perhaps if you are ready to jump to 5.x, let me know and I will check on the BT module for you.

The problem with these template makers / 3rd party extensions is that, they are not willing to update their modules / plugins We need to update it for them and the hardest part is not about updating it, it's that we need to learn and understand what their code actually does.

Hello Mark,

Thank you for your interest and concern. I think that, for now, I will stay with EB3.9x. It works fine and there were simply too many problems I encountered with EB5x. I will revisit the possibility of trying EB5x again sin the future.

Thank you again,

Glenn

Hello I have the very same problem: if I try to add a new post from the backend I get the error message.

I use 3.9.19775; I tried to upgrade to 5 but I got such a lot of trouble that I got back from an akeeba backup, so how come that a file from 5 is still on my site?

To provide you with an ftp access I should get your IP since my provider has Ip filter.

Thanks for your help
