Hi,

I was testing my facebook registration on the site and discovered that I can link my already created account to my Facebook!! Yay!!

I sent a posted a test status in easysocial, but when I checked my facebook account I saw not only the few words, but a site link with a random group avatar (which wasn't even on the page at the time!

Any ideas please, cos this looks a bit daft to be honest!!

Cheers
paul
Hello Paul,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

Unfortunately it is not possible to prompt the user to choose the image or disabled the image in FB share with the current system. By the way your suggestion could meant a lot to us for the improving of EasySocial components in the future. Perhaps you can put your idea in our easysocial voice page, http://stackideas.com/voices/easysocial so other people can vote for it.

Hi Paul Varney,

May i know are you posted a status with image file from your Easysocial user profile?

Can you provide us with your following details, so we can help you check on this?
#1. Joomla backend access
#2. FTP access
#3. Facebook access

No, the example I gave was just the text "Test status to FB"

I've since posted a link in the easysocial status. That asked me to choose an image or not. I selected not. But on FB it's taken an image from the K2 article that the link was to.

Thanks
Paul

Hello Paul,

I am sorry for the locked down of your fb account as I was in different region from yours . By the way I can access to your facebook account now.

Hm strange. I did one test status post and the stream is generated properly without the image. You can see from your facebook account or from my screenshot here, http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-05-21_0059.png . May I know if there is any specific step that I need to do in order to replicate the issue? Please advise.

Hi Ezrul,

Yeah...that does look ok now. I discovered I was using two different FB apps earlier so made them both the same (Es and EB)

If you look at my FB personal page you'll see the previous post ...I shared a link on ES, chose no thumbnail, and...well....it's just taken a useless image from the article and used it!!!

I'm a little bit lost here. I can't seems to find any status update that you mentioned from your facebook personal page that related with broken image thumbnail. Perhaps there is some cache on your end? http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-05-21_1127.png

Hello Paul,

Ah I see. It seems like the image is coming directly from the article itself, http://communityiwestlancs.org/adding-communitygroup-business-listing . When you share the link in your easysocial status update, the link and the content will also get transmit to facebook hence the image is appear on your facebook stream.

Is their anyway to force ES to give you the option of choosing the image or, even better, to retain the option for not having any image present in the FB share? I mean it does look rather scrappy in FB doesn't it?

Even if the image was clipped, it would look much better if it displayed like an EB auto post, wouldn't it?

I know it's a bit picky...but given the amount of stuff that's on feeds these days, you have to look your best before people click through!!
