Hi there,

I have several website where I use EasyBlog with the Facebook autoposting enabled. This works great but since a few weeks it doesn't show the images on Facebook anymore. One of the Facebook pages is https://www.facebook.com/gamecritics.eu?ref=hl so you can see what I mean.

This problem is with all my facebook accounts. Any ideas what might cause this?

Regards,
Ewoud
Hello Ewoud,

I have added the codes below in the file /components/com_easyblog/classes/facebook/helper.php at line 170,

$image = str_ireplace(' ', '%20', $image);

Can you see if this works fine for you now? I have tested this and it seems to be working. By the way, there's an issue with your JomSocial installation because it looks like whenever a post is made, the user get's logged out from the site. If I recall correctly, this was due to an older version of JomSocial that is installed on the site.

Hello Ewoud,

I've checked your post and looks like there is no blog image. But by default, Easyblog will get the default image to post to facebook. Did you remove the default image from ../components/com_easyblog/assets/images/default_facebook.png? Can you provide us your backend and FTP access so we can have a better look on your issue here? Please advise.

Hi Nick,

Thanks for your reply.

The default Facebook image is still there. Also the fact that I have this problem with all my 3 sites where I use EasyBlog, looks like it is something else. But please have a look. I have added the site details.

Ewoud

hello Ewoud,

Thanks for getting back to us quickly,
It seems like you have changed with your Facebook password, once finish debugging you have to re-authentication from your backend > Easyblog > autoposting > Facebook > revoke access > and click sign in with Facebook.

I have tried to publish 2 test post, one with the image and another one is with video, it seems like the Facebook default avatar is show out. Please have a look.

Hi Arlex,

I am not sure what you are saying here. Have you find the source of the issue and solved it? And now I have to change my Facebook password again and then reconnect in EasyBlog again? What do you exactly mean with 'it seems like the Facebook default avatar is show out'? In your image the youtube video still has no image.

As you can read, I am a bit confused

Hello Ewoud,

I have tried to post a new blog post on your site with a blog image and it does display the image correctly if you can see from my screen shot here, http://screencast.com/t/NCWBzLLA .

Judging from the previous posts on your Facebook page, it looks like those posts doesn't actually have any images associated with the post.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your reply. If you compare my previous blog posts on my site with the items on Facebook, you will see that my blog posts all have an image but the associated facebook items are empty.

Can you please test this by doing the same by adding a new blog post and also adding a youtube video to that new test blog post?

Regards,
Ewoud

I see it. Strange is that I also just added a new blog post and again with an empty image on Facebook. That makes me think that it might have to do with the folder where I upload the image to. Can you try with uploading the image to 'Gedeelde media - 01 Youtube'. This is the shared media folder where I store all the Youtube images of the videos.

I also just tried to upload an image to the 'Mijn media' (My media) folder but I am getting http errors when uploading, see attachment. So I cannot test that at the moment.

Thanks,
Ewoud

Ps. Nice touch by adding the N5XT video

I have do second testing in your site, it seems like I publish a blog post with video and image, the Facebook autopost is show correctly, please have a check my screenshot below.

Hi Arlex,

Thanks for fixing the Admin Tools. Can you tell me what you did so I can do it myself next time I hit the same problem?

It looks like you created a blog post with an image succesfully, but you uploaded the image to the My Media folder and not to 'Gedeelde media - 01 Youtube'.

I have now done some more intensive testing and it looks like the folder 'Gedeelde media - 01 Youtube' is the problem. I have created a new folder called 'Gedeelde media - 01youtube', and now it is working fine. It somehow looks like it doesn't like the space between 01 and Youtube. Can you please verify that?

Ewoud

Hello Ewoud,

You're welcome, what i did last time for you is go to your backend > admin tools component > Application firewall > wap exception > create NEW > component fill > com_easyblog < and another 2 field(leave it blank)
I have noticed when your image file trying to upload to your server then hitting some error, I have help you modified this configuration.php file

//replace to empty
live_site ='';

Then i tried upload some image in this folder > Gedeelde media > 01 Youtube , it work fine now. Please have a check.

Hi Arlex,

Thanks for your reply and explaining what you did in Admin Tools.

I was already able to upload files to the folder Gedeelde media > 01 Youtube. The problem is that Facebook shows an empty image when I use that folder. When I upload to the folder Gedeelde media >01youtube, Facebook suddenly does show the image. So that makes me think that the space between 01 and Youtube is causing the problem.

Ewoud

Hi Mark,

Now it works fine. The image shows up on Facebook. Will you add this to the coming update? Gamecritics.eu was just one of the sites I encountered this problem. So I think it is a general bug?

Thanks for the advice about the JomSocial installation. I just updated to the latest version so with next blog post I will see if I stay logged in.

Regards,
Ewoud
