I don't know how much longer I can wait. At least write a blog post something to give us an Idea of what we are waiting for. I've been on hold for over 4 months now.
Hi jmb,

Thank you for your support and patience. I personally understand your situation; waiting is such a pain. I'll write a blog post once I've obtained screenshots and the full information about events. Currently I'm away on my Eid holiday so perhaps I'll request for Mark himself to write about it.

Meanwhile, I assure you that it's nearly done; I was informed that the dev team are currently making sure that Events is working just like how we intended it to be. You'll be amazed at how awesome EasySocial's Events is.

Mark, you better should delete the date from the road map. Its a pain to wait, and like for 1.3 you cannot hold the dateline. You have not begin with e.g. "Videos for EasySocial" at this moment, so it will need more time to come. And we have August with 1.4 coming.. Better show the road map without date, only what we will expect in the next versions. Only my 2 cents..

I can't think of any other company (except maybe for Apple) with the proven track record to strike gold when unveiling a revamped product or new innovative approach. So I'm waiting for the next StackIdeas "Paydirt" as they called it back in the US Gold Rush days.

While you are waiting for EasyBlog 5 and EasySocial 1.3 here a few good videos to watch about product innovation and product launches.

EasyBlog 5 is highly anticipated as is EasySocial 1.3 and based on the sparse hints to date, Mark and his team are keeping us on edge with anticipation. I think EasyBlog 5 will be a disruptive innovation that will change the way we blog.

Although none of us outside the SI Team really knows what's in EasyBlog 5, what do you think will be disruptive and innovative in EasyBlog 5?

Mark, I've been looking at the roadmap everyday and getting excited that it's almost done!

The event feature has been On Progress the longest. Wondering what's taking you guys thank long on one feature? Hmmm... is it right for us to expect that it comes with Event Registration? I would understand if v1.3 does not have paid Registration but Registration?

Hello Jackson,

It's not really that difficult but we are pretty shorthanded because this time, we tried running concurrent projects. Both EasyBlog 5 and EasySocial 1.3. We had to split the team to achieve this but it does look like this is not something ideal because not only it prolongs the release cycle, it is more tedious. This is a lesson learnt but at least we tried and now that we know this wouldn't work, we'll try something else in the future

After all, just like you guys, we are also still learning on a daily basis. We build and grow the ecosystem together

Hi Mark,

Awesome! Thanks for clarifying Event Registration, reason I asked is because I just finished modifying JEvents RSVPPro integrating ES custom fields so it's available in the Reservation Form. I am willing to drop my work in place of ES Event Registration if available but since you just confirmed it's not going to be in v1.3 then I can plan ahead. This is kind of a major feature for us since we're dropping our Shopping Cart system that we use for paid events in place of this JEvents RSVPPro.

I'm excited to beta test v1.3, please count me in once it's available

Thanks,

Jackson

Hi Mark,

Quick check, so Paid Events will not be a part of ES 1.3? and in the future? need confirmation so that I can plan accordingly...

thanks

Yes, that is correct It will be added in the future once we have the billing system in place. We don't want to write the billing part for events only to realize that it is not extensible enough

Crossing my fingers that
extensible enough
may refer to the possibility that the new billing functionality could grow in the future to support a site owner or member's ability to monetize other ES-based assets or objects such as Group(s), Video(s), or to gain access to any other future ES-based or ES-launched service.

I am already working on to modify a billing extension. I want to integrate it to event. I'll try building a paying reservation per event. That's what i want to include to the extension as my personnal touch but it would imply deep integration with SI's foundry. Hope the doc will be updated. If a git would be open we can do this public. Don't mind sharing the knowledge

You can use a third party component like jTicketing. I believe TechJoomla will update it when Events is ready to go with EasySocial.

It's good to see lots of activity that will enable an ES site owner to monetize their memberships. The future choices between the component Alexandre is extending, JTicketing by TechJoomla, and what ES will support is very site-centric and depends on what factors site owners rank highest. Some differences I see among them are:

  • track record for awesome support
  • the solution integrates with certain other extensions that may already be used by the site;
  • tickets be created;
  • invoices be created;
  • an existing mobile app can be used for check-in;
  • the extension is extensible enough to monetize other ES-based assets or objects;
  • number and/or breadth of supported payment processors;
  • flexibility of payment processing methods (multiple, recurrent, split)

I like the PayPal Adaptive option in jTicketing. Since they already offer an free app for it and are working on an app for EasySocial, I'm guessing they'll offer a custom option of merging both apps.
