Is there a way to force the ES Online Users Module to have mock (fake) users so in case no one is actually online it looks like there is?

Unfortunately that was not possible to achieve this way, but you can set the filter to use `recent registered user` option from the `Easysocial User module` settings. So it will display the user avatar even these user is not online.
