Hi,

I have been trying to post via GMail and none of the emails are being picked up.
Tested the connection and it shows an error (see attached file).

Double checked my cronjob in cPanel and these setup is as per EasyBlog documentation.
Your help on this is appreciated.

Thanks!

Regards,
Amrit
Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

May i know your webhosting is it have support webmail server? If yes, I would suggest you setup your webmail from your server then configure into Easyblog. Because what I see recently who use gmail account setup email remote publishing in Easyblog, they also can't make it work for some reason.

Hi,

My web hosting provider supports webmail server. But why can't GMail work though, product limitation or something else?

Hi,

I think I know the reason for this issue, have a look at this link. I have contacted my web host provider to check wget and see if it solves the problem.

Hi,

My web host provider got back to me and apparently the option your colleague can't be done. Here is what they said:
We are sorry, that binary is for root only. Normal users could not use WGET. Hackers could simply include files into the server. It is not possible in shared environment.

What are the available options now?

Amrit

Hey Amrit,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply,

Currently I still can't figure out why gmail can't make this remote publishing work yet.

I believe this is not related with your current issue is because now the issue is can't connect with your gmail client.
Can you try consult with your webhosting provider how to setup webmail from your server?
If I recall correctly once you setup this, you will get which mail server address you use e.g. IMAP or POP3 and following details.

Username
Password
Incoming Mail Server
Outgoing Mail Server
Incoming Port
Outgoing Port

Once you got this, keep us update then. Then we can try setup this into your Easyblog backend configuration page.

Hello Amritpal,

I am assuming that you want to use gmail, correct? Can you please provide me with your telephone number to verify with Google? http://take.ms/jRCV1

Hello Amritpal,

As spoken on Skype, I believe your web hosting company is preventing outgoing connections because when I tried to debug the site, the outgoing connection to imap.gmail.com at port 993 is stalling.

You should check with your hosting provider about this to see if they actually blocked any outgoing connections.

Sometimes their firewall will prevent "scripts" from performing outgoing connections including this. If their firewall is preventing it, then there's no way to retrieve contents from gmail

Thanks for helping me and I can mark this post closed. Issue is with my web host provider who is blocking connections from GMail. Instead, using the web hosting mail server to post and it's working fine.
