When setting up the Facebook app, I get this error:

App domains must match the domain of the Secure Canvas URL, Mobile Site URL, Unity Binary URL, Site URL or Secure Page Tab URL. Please correct these domains: fb.com

There is absolutely nothing in your documentation about canvas, or creating this, another 2 hours wasted because your documentation omits important steps that mean that nothing works.

Very disappointed, please tell me what the answer is rather than just going in and doing it, I cannot believe the problems I'm having with this.
Hey there,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply,

Most likely you hitting this is because your site domain didn't set properly in Facebook app section, may i know which documentation you follow?

By the way, can you provide us with your Joomla backend and Facebook access so we can help you solve this as soon as possible?

Please answer my simple question above:
Where do I create this 'secure canvas url'

I've tried creating canvas in fb, tried manner of permutations of my domain name. It's not that.

I fail to see how my providing back end access helps with a problem in finding what needs to go in this field.

I've followed both your sets of instructions (why are there two?) Neither works.

OK, so again, I've done loads of research into this - your documentation does not give the correct information at all and actually sends the user in the wrong direction, which is why I was getting a bad result.
Following instructions from beeliked.com (random selection) I was able to go back to the beginning and set this up properly
You really need to look at your instructions because they don't work. You suggest people go straight to creating a www platform within facebook developer, rather than setting it up as a facebook app first before going onto that step. That's why it fails. You suggest to go directly to choosing the www option first of all.
Anyway, I've fixed this but looking at the forum, other people have the same issues, so it would be good if you went back and looked at your documents rather than just suggesting that the people following them are at fault.
Your unhelpful response woke me up at 5am - once I responded to you I set about fixing it myself as I've had to do with other recent issues. Thanks for no sleep and no help. Very annoyed.

Where do I create this 'secure canvas url'

When you setup Facebook autopost in Easyblog, you actually do not need to setup 'Secure Canvas URL' ( http://take.ms/Kyl3M ) from your Facebook app, so we didn't put this into our documentation.

I fail to see how my providing back end access helps with a problem in finding what needs to go in this field.

1. You can edit your first post and put your site details into `optional information` field there.
2. Or you can put your site details once at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site, so that you no need keep add your site details in single post on our forums.

To make this autoposting work, the system only required a few setting from Facebook app, it actually no need configure the rest of your site details into the Facebook app.

Perhaps you can share with us which step we missed up so that we can double check of this. If that is the step we missed up we will update on our documentation.

Anyway, I've fixed this but looking at the forum, other people have the same issues, so it would be good if you went back and looked at your documents rather than just suggesting that the people following them are at fault.

I am really sorry that I do not know my response woke you up at 5am.
It would be best if you can put all of your site details (joomla backend/ FTP/ Facebook account access - If needed to check Facebook autoposting issue ) once at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site so that when you post a new question in our forums, we can directly check the issue in your site.

I already gave you details some weeks ago - doesn't stop you asking for them every time.

To correct your documentation, at step 3, you need to choose Facebook Canvas or Facebook app in Facebook Developer (it can give you either).

If you do not, there is no canvas ID and you can spend 5 hrs going round in circles as I did wondering where the heck to get it from.

Once the facebook canvas is created, everything is indeed awesome.

Then you can get on to the rest of the steps in your document.

This is a fundamental error in documentation - your products are very good but your docs are letting you down. I shouldn't have had to call on you - your support costs must be higher than they need to be.

Remember I also had problems with the migrator - that didn't work as it should and I highly suspect that was documentation as well - Mark in your team fixed it for me so I cannot tell you where the error is there.

BUT whatever else, it also didn't include the absolutely crucial point that photos will need to be copied separately and be put into matching folders in the new site. Without this it's useless.

I have been very lucky that I didn't lose anything -someone else may not be so fortunate.

Please sort this out. It's your achilles heel to be honest.

You guys are very nice and give timely responses, but far better that the customer never had to call you in the first place!

Best Wishes

Liz

Hello Liz,

Firstly, I appreciate your input on this very much. We are working really hard on updating our documentation and yes, as a business owner, this is definitely the way to go to shave off support costs.

Having said that, I am not too sure what's wrong with the 3rd step eh? It's correct to actually choose "Website" over "Facebook canvas".

As for the site access, we deal with over 50 new / current posts on a daily basis and some of them are being worked on by different support team members. It's hard to keep track of all your site access. This is why, we advise you to store your site details once at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site so that it would automatically appear when you post a question (speeding things up)
