New install of EasyDiscuss. The categories section has been set-up to my liking, but the discussions page has some more work.

As it sits right now, under each post is a rather large white box with nothing in it. Is there a setting to add content or just remove the lower section of each post???
Hello Mark,

I am sorry for the delayed response.

First of all thank you for kind feedback. The information is useful and we can use the idea to give a better layout and design that can ease users to access and use the easydiscuss forum. However judging from your requirement, I must say it requires some heavy css and core modification in order to achieve of what is best for you and for everyone else that using easydiscuss. I will inform the feedback to our developers team and hopefully they can do something about it in the future. We are sorry as there is no quick settings to achieve it with the current system.

Oh by the way perhaps you might want to voice up this idea in our easydiscuss voice page too so that others can see and vote for it, http://stackideas.com/voices/easydiscuss .

Hello Mark.

That empty box is space for the tag you put your question : http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-05-29_1048.png

If you still want to remove that box, you copy this css code into your custom.css

div#discuss-wrapper.discuss-view-categories .discuss-list .discuss-story-bd, div#discuss-wrapper.discuss-view-index .discuss-list .discuss-story-bd {
height: 0px !important;
}

div#discuss-wrapper hr {
border-top: 0px !important;
}

Hope this help

You'll have to excuse me. I haven't had the time to fully explore every aspect of EasyDiscuss settings.

I'm still having problems with the "looks" of the categories list. In the one image attachment you'll see a display of one forum sub-category. Each title is different. All have too large a font to display complete title. One is bold and one is centered. Please realize that all of my posts were migrated over from Kunena, but the page display as it is now is not user friendly. I'll use the trick above to remove the blank white boxes, but there has to be a way to adjust the fonts to be uniform in nature and show complete title.

In the second image, I created an article and did a "load position" for a EasyDiscuss - Categories module. Just an experiment to find a way to logically show a complete category tree. All items show 0 posts, but when you click on one it takes you to a page that looks like the first image. It shows all the posts, but again...... large white empty boxes and all the font issues listed above.

(As of now I have removed the article link from the live site)

Hi Mark ,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

Can you provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can better have a check on your site?

I realize it is the weekend. None of my items are pressing by any means and normally I use these problems as a learning experience.

I'm beginning to think that EasyDiscuss cannot fulfill my specific needs. It is not the fault of StackIdeas by any means. Three main reasons for trying EasyDiscuss were the (1) editor choices, (2) support, and (3) interface with EasyBlog - EasySocial - and Komento.

(1) Kunena "does not" use JCE and I've found no way to make it use JCE. EasyDiscuss allows for JCE.
(2) Kunena is free and has no support, where as the support from StackIdeas is excellent (as an example: the attention being shown to this problem).
(3) My site is already using your blog, community, and comment extensions. EasyDiscuss fits seamlessly in form, fit, and functionality with your other extensions.

But................. The forum on my site will be the most heavily used area. The site is aviation maintenance based. I've set the forum up by aircraft manufacturer, aircraft type, aircraft ATA (or general systems), and then posts for each system. The potential for 50+ manufactures, 50+ aircraft types for each manufacturer, and 50+ ATA's for each type is "more" than possible. We are talking a huge forum tree!!!

I "need" above all, a compact forum tree for categories. I've tried messing with each theme EasyDiscuss has to offer. I've tried to adjust any settings to obtain a tight tree which would show a breakdown of the layout discussed above. I've attached two pictures showing the difference in category trees. The Kunena tree is compact in such a way that a user can quickly select manufacturer, type, and subsystem with little effort. The EasyDiscuss tree is long (massive scrolling), doesn't show types, nor ATA's.

None of my issues are a fault of EasyDiscuss. I just don't think it can be "tweeked" for the layout I need. I'm not a coder, so digging into heavy CSS isn't a good idea for me. (That's why I love Joomla and StackIdeas, a dummy like me can build a usable site without using massive html and PHP.)

I think you'll understand my issues. A compact tree is a must for my site. Kunena's is and I wish EasyDiscuss's could be set up in a similar fashion, but after extensive settings adjustments, I can't make it work.

I've still got both forums on the site. Kunena is accessible from the forum quick links on the upper right of the home page. EasyDiscuss has been linked from the main menu. If you wanted to go into the EasyDiscuss settings via the administration, you're more than welcome. Please do not mess with Kunena. Any standard EasyDiscuss settings can be tried. I haven't granted FTP access, so any possible PHP or CSS modifications will have to be discussed before implementation, but I would still prefer "not" to go for any heavy modifications.

I don't expect StackIdeas to expend a huge amount of effort with this issue. Y'all are the best out there and I want to maintain a good relationship with you.
