Hello,

Reported by user and tested by me.

Whenever anyone clicks on 'edit profile' and makes a change, they click save & close (or just save), an error box appears telling them they have to complete something else. They scroll up and see the password field is red. The old password is there as ..... (normal) but it requires you to enter a new password in those change password fields before it will close and apply any changes you made.

You can enter the exact same password and it works.

Thank you,

Bridgette
Hi Bridgette,

You actually can leave the password field empty as it is if you not intend to change your password as you edit your profile

No you can't. It will not save & close unless you type in your password.

Please look at the two images I attached. You can clearly see the problem.

thank you!

Bridgette

We have discovered that this is sometimes due to users' browsers auto filling in the password when the page loads. The reason for the error in those cases is that the form is expecting to see your new password (as if you were going to change passwords). Not sure if you have that browser feature turned on or not...

Our solution was to move the password by itself into its own page at the end of the profile options, that way the user never sees the "Password" field unless they go to the specific options page to change it. Not great, but should work in those cases.

Hi Bridgette & Steve Nordstrom,

@Steve thanks for sharing the information, that could be one of the reason why the user need to fill up the 'enter new password' as the browser auto fill the original password field.

@Bridgette As long the original password is empty http://screencast.com/t/fj0sN0dwO , you can save the profile setting. As steve mention above there could be autofill by your browser, maybe you can manage the autofill by clicking the key icon http://screencast.com/t/cHPZqNg3Re (Google chrome)
