Hi there, do you guys have hidden in Stackideas kitchen any script that will allow me to "migrate" stream items for created joomla articles ?

There are some "migrators" in EasySocial backend but none for the core article system.

If you don't find any forgotten gem in you developer closet .... do you have any hint or tip how i can "mass"-create stream items for existing joomla articles ?

Thanks a lot !
My hands is pretty tied down with support this past week and I am afraid I don't have the extra time currently

Great idea Mist. This would indeed populate my stream more considering that I have members who have posted articles before I used EasySocial. If such a thing was created, I suggest having the stream item's creation date be the same as the article themselves. This way stream ordering should be maintained and old articles don't dominate the stream.

Usually the stream item will inherit the "source" creation date. At least this is the way migrator works for EasyBlog: migrated stream items have the same creation date as easyblog items.

I think such migrator is mandatory for Joomla core articles aswell. Maybe the devs can help us with a quick script even if it's not fully integrated in EasySocial backend yet. I don't mind to run it standalone

Hi guys,

I'm really sorry that delayed of this reply,

Yes, you have to download this apps from this page -> http://stackideas.com/apps/item/8-articles

when the user published/updated/read the article in your site, it will auto generate a stream in Easysocial.

Yes, that app will create stream items for new articles but i am talking about the "migrator" section found in EasySocial backend.
I need to create stream items for old articles (articles that are already posted).
EasySocial have some "migrators" in backend for EasyBlog posts stream, Kuena post stream... and so forth.

We need a similar "migrator" for core joomla articles aswell

Hello Mist,

Unfortunately our kitchen only contains a microwave and some frying pans, we don't have such gems However, should you want to pursuit this, it's really simple (If you are a developer and I think it's easy for you Mist).

1. Take a look at the logics used to create a stream in /administrator/components/com_easysocial/includes/migrators/helpers/easyblog.php

2. Write a script that reads through each articles on Joomla's database and follow the logics to generate a stream at step #1

Cheers! Perhaps you can help furnish our kitchen with this nifty gem?

So, can you guys help me out with this "article migrator" ? I am a little bit out of my league trying to figure this out

I think this easysocial article stream "creator"/migrator will be a great addon to EasySocial and many users that use the joomla's core article system will love.

Without this, all the posted joomla articles published prior EasySocial instalation ... will be "lost" from the stream

So , hands up who wants to send out some "beers" to Stackideas ... so we can keep these guys at a barbecue doing some extra-code
