I'm glad to see that EasySocial 1.4 is progressing.

It looks from the Roadmap that most of the to/do items have been done or are in testing. Do you have an ETA for an Alpha/Beta? I am excited as I am sure others are as well. Our users are ready for a new experience.
Hey James,

It's pretty soon But we'll probably start with the beta first

Hey guys,

We're actually pretty occupied this week as we are rolling out tons of fixes for EasyBlog and EasySocial. When I have some free time next week, I would be blogging about it

More items have been set to complete lately. Now all that's left is:

- Ability to switch ajax urls to index.php

- Performance optimizations/Optimizing page loading time

- Taking pictures from a webcam and set them as a profile picture

- Calendar module for events

- Simple urls for user accounts

All of these items have progress, two seem to be nearly done.

Hi Paul, we were using HWDmedia, its a solid extension with many interested features but we stoped using it,
all our website areas (downloads, media, etc.) are handled by jreviews, that help us to handle a minimum of extensions for a maximm of performace. Jreviews is pretty good and we can do every thig with it!

hope we wil get some sneak peak for SE 1.4 soon

Hi Jan

Thanks for the tip.
I will look into Jreviews when I have a chance!
Do you have a link(s) for your site(s)?
This is where I am currently at:

Hey guys,

We're pretty near to a beta However, to those license that has already expired, I strongly encourage you to renew it first as there will be some adjustments to our price for EasySocial after the beta announcements.

Is it ok to use on a live site, i know you say not to but i'm just interested to give it a go and do some bug testing etc.

Cheers

There will likely be a lot of bugs, especially with the first beta. Usually the RC versions are technically stable enough to use as long as you are okay with dealing with expected bugs and waiting potentially multiple days for a fix.

As of right now, I personally would strongly advise against using a beta 1 on a production site. RC is where it is a bit safer, put play at your own risk.

Regarding the Stackideas team, a huge congratulations for this awesome release! While I have been checking the roadmap pretty much every day (sometimes more than once) I was not expecting it to come out this week. I figured maybe next week. I'm excited to test things out.

Congrats to the team
the issue tracker is quite active at the moment, lets hope these will only require little time to be fixed...
And waiting for the optimize and performance to be completed

The great news is that there will be a part 2 of ES optimizations in ES 2.0. Right now it's in the backend code (SQL & PHP) but later it is planned to be in the JS and such.

I personally am not able to test ES 1.4 beta 1 due to issues extracting the package. Perhaps the beta is only supposed to be tested on a fresh install (one without ES already on it)? Does anyone else have this issue?

It was actually an error on my end with how I setup my configuration file with www vs non www in the live site string. Mark pointed this out and now the install went smoothly.
