Hello, I would like to know regarding EasyDiscuss (new version 4) themes. I find it the only Wireframe and Dark installed.

As it says in documentation, there should more themes to choose:
http://stackideas.com/docs/easydiscuss/administrators/templating/applying-new-theme

If it's not possible with new version, maybe there are commercial themes to add? Or is it going to appear in the future??
Only the Pro and Developer version has all the themes. The community version only includes 2 themes and just for your information, we have already retired all "Communtiy" or "Starter" plans from our plans.

You can read more from our blog post at http://stackideas.com/blog/discontinuation-of-all-community-or-starter-plans

Hello, because of willing to get more themes, I upgraded to Pro version.

I mostly use EasyDiscuss with category or subcategory links. And now these links look the same with all the themes.

For me, there is difference according to the theme, only when I choose RECENT view, like displayed there: http://stackideas.com/docs/easydiscuss/administrators/templating/themes

When I choose any category view - theres is no difference which theme I choose, view is the same default, as there http://stackideas.com/forums.

I used to Simplistic theme before update to EasyDiscuss 4: http://screencast.com/t/PSV2IPnEa and was hoping in Easydiscuss Pro 4 version to find something similar. I also like Zinc theme but the problem is that it does not appear when I choose category or subcategory view (as it was earlier).

Maybe there are setting that I need to set??
Thank you.

Hey Dalia,

The forums view is actually a new view and we have implemented the DNA from the forums view to the category view as there are a ton of users requesting us to do so.

The simplistic theme has been deprecated because it only uses the standard bootstrap styles and we thought that it really doesn't have the elegant touch towards it.

It's OK not to have simplistic theme.

But there is no other theme to choose both for category view, both for subcategory view, and even also for post view!!!!!! There is no benefit from pro version if I do not get other themes... Of course money is not a problem, but I really need other themes for post view, for category view - something similar like it was before... Is there hope to get it in the future????

I am very dissapointed, EasyDiscuss 4 is such a mess:
- different url links (Googlebot identified a significant increase in the number of URLs that return a 404 (not found) error)
- category view does not contain subcategory posts like it was before.
- whole view (because of no themes) is different as it was and I do not like it...
- Email Digest sent more than 50 exact the same emails to the same user in one day (right after update to ED4).

I am not entirely sure if I understand you regarding the themes. The themes only has differences in terms of the colorization, box styling and probably some cosmetics. The forums and category view will still behave the same.

Is the colorization and look and feel is what you are referring to? If so, I will discuss this with our designer to see if we can update the UI to look more standardized depending on which theme you have chosen.

different url links (Googlebot identified a significant increase in the number of URLs that return a 404 (not found) error)

We had a choice, and this is not an easy choice but we had to decide. We could either improve the speed of the extension or prefix it with an id to speed things up.

- category view does not contain subcategory posts like it was before.

I would strongly advise you to not cross post this. You have already posted this at http://stackideas.com/forums/category-view-does-not-display-subcategory-posts-after-update and we'll reply you here. Posts like this will essentially get slower responses.

- whole view (because of no themes) is different as it was and I do not like it...

You can still use the "Recent" (Index) view to view a flat list of posts just like version 3.x

- Email Digest sent more than 50 exact the same emails to the same user in one day (right after update to ED4).

This was already fixed on 4.0.5. Which version are you on?

Yes, I agree that in this topic I should continue with original post topic - themes. Other things were mentioned just out of overall disappointment, sorry...

I mostly use links for category and subcategory view, and I do not get chance to choose other theme, just standard. Earlier we had possibility to choose!

Yes, I am referring to the colorization and look, but not only this... I like Zinc theme. I would like to have it for category and subcatehory view. For example, in standard theme, date of post (like, 3 month ago) is very visible and highlighted. In Zinc theme you can see how many people viewed that topic.

And I am sure that for my forum its much much better view to show zinc theme, that displays:
- 3200 viewed, 6 voted, 0 replied
User thinks: it might be something interesting as many people had read this!!!

Other than, standard theme displays:
- Posted 6 month ago, no one replied...
User thinks: Pooh! Very old post, that no one got interested, I should go away...

And another terrible thing about default theme, is that: for example discussion was last replied before 2 days, but this theme displays just "3 years ago" (date of creation). Thats made my forum look like DEAD (looks like all the posts created some years ago and thats it)

Thanks for your input on this and I have been in serious discussion with our designers about this. There are several ideas that we are toying with and we'll see what can be done on the next release. These are some of my suggestions based on your input here.

1. A configuration to allow you to choose between last replied / creation date on the forums view. See my screen shot here, http://screencast.com/t/0ydxqeX2mWg

2. Another set of configuration to place more information to display more information about the post on forum view, http://screencast.com/t/mccTKmAua6e2

Hello, yes, these suggestions are helpful.

As I understand first one is already completed in Version 4.0.6.

What about second suggestion. it would be great to have it, so that my forum would look more attractive.

Hello Dalia,

Providing your suggestions does not mean that we will definitely add this functionality in. If there are enough requests for this, we'll consider it.

The reason that #2 wasn't added was because there are costs to it. Having to display those "stats" on the page means running additional sql queries and also slows down the page loading time. Sacrificing the page loading time over stats like this really isn't worth it.
