I made a scheduled post (I delayed the publication by about 2 hours) on the 19th, it posted fine: however the Facebook autopost did not function.

Could you advise why please, and suggest a fix? Facebook makes a big difference to material being accessed. You can see that the post in question (Convenient Truths ...) has 20 hits, whereas others have between 100 - 200.

I have updated my entry on your details to include Facebook access, as Arlex has requested.
Thanks, Robin
Hey Robin,

I found your response here very frustrating!
I said that 'save for later' button actually posted the post, and it did. It's no good just telling me that the button won't do that.Perhaps when you re-wrote something in the file [>JoomlaFolder\administrator\components\com_easyblog\includes\post\post.php] this affected the functioning of the 'save for later ' button. This mis-functioning of the button has not happened previously. Now I can't use the Component at all until this is fixed,as if I draft and save material it is likely to randomly post it instead of saving it. . Yes, please have a look at out 'backend', if that helps.

I am sorry for that you felt frustrating. Actually I did explained "If the issue still persists, can I have permission to directly to check on your site?" Because I knew a lot of customer do not like our technical create any test post in their site for testing purpose, especially accidentally autopost to their social network, I hope you can understand.

By the way, I've created a test schedule post in your site and try to edit my test post again then click "save for later" button, can you check your facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/Sightlines-Initiative-131705481523/ ) is it got show out my test post?

Again, with your question:
May I know what do you mean by " it also seems to have gone to Everyone on our joomla Users list" ?: I don't know how else to say it. The pconfiguration ost went to everyone on our Joomla user list, not just to those subscribed to easyblog.

I've checked in your site settings, your current blog notification setting only "Notify all members on new entries" is set to NO. You can refer on my screenshot here : http://screencast.com/t/OvdRF9csiHiU

After I posted the comment, I noticed that the 'send to all users' had been moved to yes, so that was the reason for it. I don't recall this setting being on 'yes' previously, but I can't be sure. I know that you are correcting some settings for me: could it be that you inadvertently enabled this feature? Can you remember?

I can ensure that I didn't touch any settings from your backend.

Ok - I've made a new scheduled post which is due to go out at 6pm UK time. Let's see!
I would never have thought of enabling that button, as I wasn't updating a post, I was scheduling it.

By the way, Tags - autofill didn't work again.

I have rescheduled that last post for 0835 UK time: so we can see what happens in about 10 minutes. It was also on this post that I tried the autofill.

Hey Robin,

You can check it from Easyblog email activities.

http://www.replaceYourDomainName.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_easyblog&view=spools

I noticed all the email notification is under pending mode, what i suggest is setup a cronjob in your server so that it will automatically process email and notify to your site member when the new post is published.

if you need assistance on this, can you provide us with your Cpanel access so we can help you configuration on this?

Hello Arlex,
I have set up CPanel access and put the information in our 'Site Info' tab. Was there something which I did not set up correctly when I configred the component? Following your post with the 'spools view' link, I see the instruction "Please remember to setup the cronjobs if you are not sending emails on page load."
Should we, or should we not be "sending emails on page load"? What does it mean anyway? What is pending mode? Why did emails go, but only much later than the hour of publishing ? I had timed the hour of publishing to co-incide with when most people seem to be reading our messages.

If this cronjob needs to be set up, and will resolve the issue, then yes please, do please set it up.

Thanks for your help, Robin

hey Robin,

Thanks for getting back to us, I already help you setup cronjob in your server, it should send out 30 email notification to your site subscriber every 5 minute.

What this option `send email on page load` purpose is when you enabled this emails will be processed everytime the page loads. In other word, if no user visit on your Easyblog page, it will not send email to your user.

Hello Arlex,
Our hosting provider allows us to send out 400 emails (e.g. acymailing) a minute i think. does that help?

I still don't understand the 'send email on page load' option, so I think i'm best keeping away from it. Does it mean that: If a subscribed person visits one of our Easyblog pages, it will send them an email? What's the point of that?

The general functioning we need from our end is:

Write and schedule diary items to go live at a specified time;
At that time the post is published: subscribers are notified by email, and a copy is autoposted on Facebook.

Then also if someone writes a comment (so far no-one has) a notification is also sent to subscribers.

Are we all set up for this now, after you've configured this 'cron'?

cheers, Robin

Yes, actually this functionality is provide for whoever server do not have provide cronjob service. Since your server provided this service, it would be best you can keep using the cronjob so it will not affect your site performance.

By the way, I have help you increase the `Process how many emails at a time` to 400 from backend Easyblog notification setting, so now it will process 400 email every 5 minute.

Then also if someone writes a comment (so far no-one has) a notification is also sent to subscribers.

If the user A subscribe that blog entry page, then user B comment on this blog entry, this user A will get the new comment notification.

Write and schedule diary items to go live at a specified time;
At that time the post is published: subscribers are notified by email, and a copy is autoposted on Facebook.

Perhaps you can create a new post and see how it goes?

Hi,
so here's the update on how the recent post went.
The subscribers were notified fine.
It autoposted ok to Facebook, but
It posted three times! This was because the autotags functions kept behaving badly (either going into a continuous loop or not working at all) which meant I had to have 3 goes at completing the post. And each time it saved it made an autopost to Facebook.

So two issues are highlighted, I think

1) I think that there is maybe an improvement needed on how the Scheduling / autoposting functioning works. You made it function by enabling (backend > Easyblog > autopost > Facebook > Autopost On Post Being Updated - YES) which is why I had 3 posts to Facebook. But I don't want that to happen! I only want it to autopost on schedule. i don't really want it to autopost an new Facebook post just because I edit a word or something in the diary itself.
2) The autopost still has a bug in it.

Over to you! thanks, Robin

Hey Robin,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply,

Regarding that Facebook autoposting issue, I still investigate on this and get back to you once we figure out.

However, may I know what is the second issue you described above?

2) the autotags functions kept behaving badly (either going into a continuous loop or not working at all) This made the whole component freeze. I then had to close it and start again.

hey Robin,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply,

Regarding that scheduled post issue already solved, I've applied some fix in this file ->JoomlaFolder\administrator\components\com_easyblog\includes\post\post.php

Can you give it a try now? (I also help you disabled this option 'Autopost On Post Being Updated' as well)

Regarding with your second issue, I still not really sure how to replicate this issue, perhaps you can take a look of my video here and see is it I missing something here so that you can guide me how to replicate ?

Hello Arlex,
Scheduled posts/autoposting: so it is now fixed that scheduled posts will autopost, without having 'Autopost On Post Being Updated' enabled, right? I am getting something ready for tomorrow, so will test.
Will you put this fix into your next update?

Autotags: So far as I can see from your video, you've gone through the process fine. When I did it last, The autotag simply went round in circles. I don't know how to guide you how to replicate the problem I had. perhaps I will try videoing it when I next do it, in case it happens again. It is a small issue though, as the autotag usually doesn't pick the words I want!

cheers, Robin

In addition to this post going out when I pressed 'save for later' , it also seems to have gone to Everyone on our joomla Users list, not just to those subscribed to the easyblog. Has some setting been changed?
The general settings page at the moment looks like this:

Perhaps it was changed when I was trying to figure out how to enable 'gues comments', and the functions are linked??

Will you put this fix into your next update?

Yes, this fix will included in next release version.
It would be best if you can start a new schedule post so the result will come out more accurately.

If next time this happen again, you can try download this Jing software ( https://www.techsmith.com/jing.html ) then record a video so we can take a look of this issue. If the autotag didn't pick up your expected words, you can manually add in.

I was editing the next blog post: I pressed 'save for later' and it autoposted to Facebook and sent info to our list!
This is not good at all.

If you press `save for later` it actually won't publish your post directly, it will just save as draft for this revision.
If the issue still persists, can I have permission to directly to check on your site?

In addition to this post going out when I pressed 'save for later' , it also seems to have gone to Everyone on our joomla Users list, not just to those subscribed to the easyblog. Has some setting been changed?

May I know what do you mean by " it also seems to have gone to Everyone on our joomla Users list" ?
Yes, we already put this enable `guest comment` from Easyblog ACL section.
You can set from backend > Easyblog > ACL > public/guest user group > comment tab > post comment - YES

I've just found this setting: http://screencast.com/t/cu6kchaqicd
So have adjusted it to be: http://screencast.com/t/H4Blrn7w
Is that correct?

May I know what you trying to achieve here? Please advise.

Regarding the 'autotabs ' function: yes, I'd been meaning to film it, and send you the film, but I was stopped by the untoward posting before I was ready. When this is fixed I'll be able to try again. And its not just that its not picking up the text, it freezes the whole Component (or anyway did before.)

Again, with your question:

Hello Arlex,
I've checked on Facebook, and your 'save for later' didn't post out. Good! but strange!
The only thing i can do, I think is, when I do the next one, to film the process. Then if something weird happens, you'll be able to see.

That is very odd about the 'notify all members settings'. Anyway, I hope that should be all stable now.
