Hey Simon,

Can you provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access into your dashboard http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site so we can help you check on this?

Hi Simon,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply.

The reason why you have duplicate content is because you do not have any easyblog frontpage menu item that easyblog can use as a base url for the blog link. With your current setup it will try to create the url base on the current active menu item id such as your joomla > cms > news and the url will become yoursite.com/joomla/cms/news/blog-title.

In order to fix this I have created a hidden menu for your easyblog frontpage menu item and change the SEO settings to use that item id at your backend > easyblog > settings > SEO > advanced settings and the url structure should not contain any duplicate now. Please have a look.

Hi Simon,

I've revert back the changes that I made on your site previously so you can have your old url back. May I know what kind of url structure that you prefer on your site because your current url structure will cause some duplicate url issue due to missing frontpage menu item.

Hello,

thanks to revert back the change.

On the website, I have different menu item who leeds to different EasYBlog categories.
I want to keep all these URLs, like :
http://cinnk.com/magazine/decembre-2015/
http://cinnk.com/joomla/3/trucs-et-astuces

With what you did, all the post was available with the URL cinnk.com/blogs/article

Thanks for your help!

Hi Simon,

Ah I see. Unfortunately it is not possible to achieve this in easyblog 3.9 without the cost of url duplication on your site. This however can be achieve with latest version easyblog 5 where you can assign a single category menu item on your site and use that menu item to create a simple category url structure ( yoursite.com/category ) without creating any duplicate url on your site.

Perhaps you might want to consider to update your easyblog to version 5 and I will assist you with the url setup.

Yes, Why not update to the latest version of EasyBlog.
I have a lot of content with customisation on templates.

Is the update will be without any problem?

Hi Simon,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply.

I'm afraid your current customization might not be compatible with easyblog 5 as the structure of easyblog 5 are completely different than easyblog 3.9. May I know what kind of customization that you have there? Perhaps you can create a copy of your live site and try to upgrade it to easyblog 5 and see how it goes.

Hey Simon,

If you view the source of the page for the following 3 links:

http://cinnk.com/joomla/cms/news?view=entry&id=400
http://cinnk.com/joomla/cms/news/gridbox-builder-un-nouveau-page-builder-pour-joomla
http://cinnk.com/index.php?option=com_easyblog&view=entry&id=400&Itemid=200

You will notice that there is a code that looks like below:

<link href="http://cinnk.com/joomla/cms/news/gridbox-builder-un-nouveau-page-builder-pour-joomla" rel="canonical" />

This code tells the search engine that regardless of what the URL it is currently, the main (correct page) is defined in the canonical tag.

Having said that, you need to find where are the following links generated from:

http://cinnk.com/index.php?option=com_easyblog&view=entry&id=400&Itemid=200
http://cinnk.com/joomla/cms/news?view=entry&id=400

Yes, it is the question. I've no idea where are generated these links.

Where did you find these links? If it is from Google webmaster, you should be able to see the "referrer" or the "original source" of the page that generates these links.

Nevertheless, don't worry too much as the canonical should take care of things. Read more here, https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/139066?hl=en

This is probably due to your menu setup. It certainly does seem to be generated from some sort of sitemap?

You need to use Google webmaster tools to find which urls are generating such urls.

Anyway, as mentioned in my previous reply, this URLs really has no effect on search engines because there is already a canonical tag and the blog post was written by Google themselves.

Are you sure?
The canonical of this page is incorrect, no:
http://cinnk.com/2015-10-07-08-21-34/videos/formation-video-pour-debutant-joomla
It should point to the following page, no?
http://cinnk.com/boutique/videos/formation-video-pour-debutant-joomla

Thanks for your help!

Beside the main problem, I've just created a new article. This new article is available from this menu item:
http://cinnk.com/joomla/cms/news
If you click on the article, you obtain this URL:
http://cinnk.com/joomla/cms/news/joomla-3-4-7-une-mise-a-jour-de-securite-importante
That a good point.
But if you go on the following menu item (how display the featured articles):
http://cinnk.com/blog
and then click on the first article, you obtain this URL:
http://cinnk.com/blog/joomla-3-4-7-une-mise-a-jour-de-securite-importante

So there is duplicate content and the canonical are not good

If you click on the second article, the URL is correct:
http://cinnk.com/joomla/cms/news/joomla-3-4-6

I've published the second article before the update to Easyblog 5
Thanks for your help.

Hey Simon,

In EasyBlog 5, we allow multi categories support. In other words, it is now possible to submit your blog posts in more than 1 category. However, you can choose a primary category for the post (This also includes the url generation).

I tried checking your post and it seems like the first post's primary category is set to "Joomla!" which doesn't have a menu item as the "News" category item. I have set the primary category to "News" for that post and it uses the correct URL.

To set a primary category, take a look at my screen shot here, http://screencast.com/t/UP1wyKFSPt

Hey Mark,

Thanks, very good if EasyBlog allow multi categories support.
I've understood the problem with your screen shot.

What can I do with the main problem, the link with "2015-10-07-08-21-34" for instance?

Thanks.

Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

I've checked in your current menu structure, this '2015-10-07-08-21-34' alias is actually coming from your 'Menu principal FR' menu > Boutique > Videos > Formation debutant , you can refer on my attached screenshot.

Perhaps you can try edit these 'menu' as I mentioned at above, modify from '2015-10-07-08-21-34' to 'Boutique' and see how it goes?

Hello,

I'm sorry to re-open this post but this morning I've find this result on Google:
https://www.google.fr/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=comment+remonter+un+bug+joomla+cinnk

The 2 firsts results leads to my website with 2 different URLs and as you'll see, the canonical are not good.

Thanks for your help.

If that is the case, then I think there is nothing wrong with EasyBlog because you have created a "Magazine" menu item and with this menu item, you can also accessed the blog posts.

In short, the issue here now is that you have 2 ways to access this blog post and Google is indexing these items correctly.

Yep, but with this Magazine menu Item, I want to display the posts of a specific category.
And this post is not in this category.

Thanks for your help.

Perhaps in your case it would be useful to define a specific menu id for EasyBlog to use? See my screen shot here, http://screencast.com/t/LI94mpOfWHr

Hey Simon,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. You just need to ensure that the menu items which you created doesn't generate the same blog posts on both menus.
