(1) Posts keeps getting duplicated on friends feed page. see fig 1

I cannot replicate this issue from your site. I logged in with the user you provided, then go to his dashboard and posted a status update, I did not get duplicate stream item displayed. Please see http://screencast.com/t/a7N8IsnHFrpi

I then checked on EasySocial stream table on that particular user, look like there are duplicate item added. I not sure why is this happening but looking at the stream creation datetime, it seems like there are multiple request adding the stream. Please see http://screencast.com/t/Z4hjSCmC

Can you tell me how to replicate this issue?

(2) When a user is within the conversation window, he/she does not get a live update of replies sent by the person they are chatting to except page is refreshed. Is this the norm? and if not, can this be looked into. see fig 2

(3) An individual user gets notifications of his/her own posts. This is not desirable. see fig 3

When you say notification, do you mean this notification? http://screencast.com/t/1K9Dr2woJte ( this is system live notification from the toolbar). Or do you mean the stream item in your dashboard page? If you are referring to the stream item, this is actually the correct behaviour where this is the stream item, not really a notication. User will be able to interact with stream item, e.g. give comment to the stream or like the stream item

Anyway, i do noticed during my test on submit the status update or submitting the reply in conversation, the ajax request seems only come back after your comechat system the ajax returned. If you notice, comechat send periodical ajax request to your server to retrieve commetns. It seems like all the ajax request by other components is waiting the comechat to finish return then only the request continue to process. Meaning to say, EasySocial is waiting your comechat ajax request to return. Is it possible for you to turn off the comechat from your site and see if your issues resolve?

What i mean is,

(1) With issue 1, you post a comment and the blue feed notification appears saying " new update from the feed" and when you click on it, it duplicates the message you just posted. Buts if you click on the Genera link, this does not duplicate messages. The problem is the blue notification tool bar, this duplicates the post on the feed page . Please configure so that posts are not duplicated. (see Fig 1 in attachment)


(2) About issue 2, you misunderstood me. What i meant is when you are in the conversation window and the person you are chatting with sends a reply, the message is not automatically updated. You get a new message notification and have to click on it to view the new message.

(3) issue 3, When i post a comment personally or comment on my post, I get a notification of the fact that i have commented on my own post or that i have posted a new message. I do not think users should be getting notifications of their own posts or comments.

(4) A new 4th issue is that I have just realised that though privacy settings have been enable to ensure a user cannot view another users profile except they are friends, this is not working.

This looks like a bug in the current version of EasySocial and we have already fixed this internally. However I can't seem to login to the FTP to fix this.

Ah, this feature is not available yet but I will try to add this in either 1.2 or 1.3

Which particular stream is having this issue? The stream privacy is dependent on the app because the apps are responsible to control the privacy (Whether it should be displayed to the current viewer or not).

Also, about issue 4, (privacy issues). This is a general issue with the site. When you try to add a user as a friend, you ought not to be able to view their details except they approve your friend request and this was the case until the upgrade to ES 1.1.

Though the profile access settings still restrict viewing of non friends, this does not function, Feel free to register a user and try to add me and you'll see that the user can access my prfile and other information even though i'm yet to respond to the request.

Issue 1 and 3 to which you have applied fixes remain the same. i have tried 3 different user accounts and the issue turns up on every single one of them. See screen shots.

Issue 4. still exists as i can access your profile even though we are neither friends on the site nor have i sent you a friend request (see second attachment)

please take a look and feel free to run a test afterwards to confirm if they are resolved.

Regarding your issue 1, can you temporary disable cometchat from your Joomla. I've observed how the ajax request being served on your site and it seems like ajax request from EasySocial was interrupt by this cometchat. Just a guessing but can you disable cometchat so that we can isolate the possibility cause of this issue.

As for your issue 3, I submit a comment on my own feed item and i do not get the live notification. May i know how to replicate this issue?

And for issue 4, this is because in EasySocial 1.1.3, a super admin can view any profile ( or any content ) in the EasySocial irregardless the privacy. If the user is a non-admin user, then only privacy will kick in. Hope this clarifies why 'brad' can view 'mark lee' profile even they are not friend because 'brad' is a super admin

About issue 3, the notification i'm referring to is the one which appears in the "General" newsfeed section. If a user comments, does that appear in the general function by default? And if yes, could you kindly modify so that it doesn't. Thank you.

Hi Michael,

Regarding your issue 1, look like is the mis-configuration of some settings in your EasySocial. For those interval polling on system notification, friends notification, conversation notification and new stream notification, you are setting the internal to 1 second. This is too fast and the moment you submit the stream, EasySocial compare the date when you submit and the date the checking and thus you keep getting the new stream notification on the same post. I've reconfigure the interval to 15 seconds so that it allow EasySocial to have some 'buffer' for the processing. Now you not no longer get the notification on new stream item for the same post

As for issue 3, submitting comment will not generate stream item so there will not be any notification on new stream item for the comments

Thanks for getting back Sam. They're all fixed.

Just an aside, i chatted with Mark who ever so kindly pointed me to the files to customise the theme so that i can display the friend suggestion widget on the Dashboard

( /components/com_easysocial/themes/wireframe/profile/default.php) however, i see to be struggling with this. Can you help with perhaps a more accurate description of how i can go about this?
