Hi

I have a few issues with the new easy blog layout

1. When i compose a new blog post can i have it open within the current window and not pop out into a overlay?

2 When i publish a new blog post, the URL comes out as timestamp instead of the blog title as it did before - i went to the setting to change this but couldn't see how it could be changed, even in the SEO setting menu where it looked like it was set to post the url as the post title

3 FIXED --> when i review a blogger's submission it doesn't show the post properly, i've attached an image to show what i mean

4 when i make a new post, the blog window stays open as though it hadn't been published, instead of showing the list of recent posts and it used to

would you be able to let me know about these issues im having please?

thank you
Hello Nick,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

1. When i compose a new blog post can i have it open within the current window and not pop out into a overlay?
It is possible but currently there is no setting for this. In order to open the composer in full window, you can right click on the composer icon and then click on "open in new tab", http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-06-29_1116.png .

2 When i publish a new blog post, the URL comes out as timestamp instead of the blog title as it did before - i went to the setting to change this but couldn't see how it could be changed, even in the SEO setting menu where it looked like it was set to post the url as the post title
I've checked your blog post on your site and it seems like the url is shown as blog title correctly from my end. Not really sure how to reproduce the issue on your site.

3 FIXED --> when i review a blogger's submission it doesn't show the post properly, i've attached an image to show what i mean.
May I know if this issue has already been resolved? Please advise.

4 when i make a new post, the blog window stays open as though it hadn't been published, instead of showing the list of recent posts and it used to
That's a correct behavior of easyblog 5 currently. You can however creating a new menu item called "EasyBlog ยป (Dashboard) Compose Layout" so that when you click on the menu item it will redirected you to user's post dashboard page and open the composer at the same time.

1 - i tried this and it still created the same as before - the new blog post function expands - i would like it to be as it was before

2 - ok i will see how this goes seems to be ok

3- fixed thanks

4 - not sure what you mean here, but it's not acting as it was before, i.e. it thinks it hasn't posted yet. Another blogger had the same issue, where she told me she submitted it multiple times.

also the youtube function has dissapeared.

for this reason i would like to revert back to the CMS i had before the update as there are too many issues and it's not working as i need it to. please can you do this ASAP? Very dissapointed with easy blog 5 i have to say

Regarding the above, in new EasyBlog 5, we actually open up the composer page in a overlay popup due to the new composer require large space to display all the composer options For now, if you really need to open the composer without a overlay popup, what you can do is to create a menu item which is a external link type and point to link to below url:

http://www.yoursite.com/index.php/Blog/Composer.html?tmpl=component

The above will then open the composer in your web browser. However, do take note, when you are in this composer page ( full page ), there will be no navigation that back to your blog page. You will either close the page or manually type the link back to your page.

Anyway, we are now working on a facelift of this composer in next release of EasyBlog so that, when the user click on 'submit and close' button, EasyBlog will automaticallly close the composer (popup) and return the page to dashboard post listing page.

also the youtube function has dissapeared.

Ah you are right. Look like the video embed feature was missing. I will report this to the developer team and we will fix this issue in up coming of EasyBlog release. For now, you will need to manually add the below code from your Joomla editor.

[embed=videolink]{"video":"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbP2N1BQdYc","width":"400","height":"225"}[/embed]

Please see http://screencast.com/t/PQ3SvwaFOJys

I am really sorry for the inconveniences that may have caused to you.

Hope this help and have a nice day!

Hi Nick,

I am sorry for the confusion on the video embed. We actually removed the video embed feature due to Joomla editor already has the ability to embed video. Please see:

http://screencast.com/t/AjKGvtyhpb
http://screencast.com/t/5VmaVB0Di3O

In order to use the above video embed feature from your Joomla editor, you will also need to allow 'iframe' tag from your EasyBlog's Joomla group ACL. Go to EasyBlog backend under ACL -> 'select Joomla group that your blogger was assigned' -> Text filter and remove the iframe tag from 'Disallowed HTML Tags ' setting. Please see: http://screencast.com/t/lY9FfaALqF7z

Hope this help and have a nice day!

thanks for the update on this - when will this facelift be made that the window closes once the blog post is submitted?

Also i noticed that even when i actually close the window after submitting a post, it isnt displayed in list of recent posts - so it's not clear if the post has actually been made -

one more thing - when i add a tag, it automatically jumps to bottom of page for some reason instead of letting me place new ones in the same field... could this be fixed please:

Hello Nick,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

when will this facelift be made that the window closes once the blog post is submitted?

Like my colleague said in his previous reply, I believe it will be soon, hopefully on the next release of easyblog.

Also i noticed that even when i actually close the window after submitting a post, it isnt displayed in list of recent posts - so it's not clear if the post has actually been made

This I believe is related with your inquiry above. We are now working on a facelift of this composer in next release of EasyBlog so that, when the user click on 'submit and close' button, EasyBlog will automaticallly close the composer (popup) and return the page to dashboard post listing page.

one more thing - when i add a tag, it automatically jumps to bottom of page for some reason instead of letting me place new ones in the same field... could this be fixed please

It seems like I cannot access to your site with the provided credentials hence I am unable to test it on your site directly. I've tried in my local and everything seems to working correctly when I'm adding tag. Check my video link here, http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-07-01_1516.swf .

I tried removing the iframe tag from 'Disallowed HTML Tags ' and it still doesn't show the insert video function when i try to inert a video

I am sorry for the confusion here. In order to enable the video in tinymce you need to change tinymce functionality in tinymce plugins to "extended" mode. Simply go to your backend > plugins > editor - tinymce > functionality, http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-07-01_1538.png . Hope these help.

Have you tried to update the easyblog that we just released yesterday? This feature are included in the current release of easyblog (5.0.14). Please give it a try.

Hello Nick,

This are known issue in your current easyblog version and the fix has already been included in easyblog 5.0.14. You can perform the update by downloading easyblog installer from your stackideas dashboard, http://stackideas.com/dashboard and install it via extension manager.

Hello Nick,

Can I have the permission to update your easyblog 5.0.11 directly? Do not that any core customization that you have made will be lost during the update and it is best for you to backup any customization on your site if there any.

Please advise.

HI Nick,

I am sorry for the late reply.

May I know, do you have any customization on your site? If you do, it is best for you to backup these customization first before we can proceed with the update process. Actually, we do not do backup for our customer because we doesn't know what customization you have done on your site. So it is best for you to do it yourself.

Please do update us back.
