DIsplaying intro only on blogs

Hi Just wanted to ask how you'd go about configuring easy blog to only show an introduction to any article.

I've managed to change the back end settings and also got it to request users to login prior to see the article. However this seems pointless as its showing the article in the front page automatically. I've changed the intro word count but it doesn't seem to be having an affect.
