Hi Guys,

Can anyone recommend a directory extension that integrates with ES?

Many thanks in advance.
If one could get Joomla articles to behave like a directory that would work. But it's a big if.

Arlex,

I'm referring to a business directory (or pages if we use Social Networking terminology). Essentially I would like to create many listings and have activity streams posted/created when users interact with (such as leave a rating/review, favorite a location etc.), I know of a couple directory extensions, what I'm looking for is advice which one to use.

One other feature that is a must is geolocation and list claiming. If the pages function is close to being released I will wait for that, as it will provide everything that is needed for me.

Below is a list of the extensions that I'm aware of (I didn't include every one that;s listed in the JED, rather then ones that I've heard of.

  • RS Directory - a nice extension, currently does not offer ES integration, the developers are open to suggestions on their feedback page (although there is a suggestion for integration which is marked as complete, it is for Jomsocial not ES).
  • Jreviews seems to have everything that Im loking for, the only problem is that it isn't fully open source, some of their code is encoded. Would you purchase this although it is encoded?
  • Moset Trees, not sure if they integrate with ES, they don't offer geolocation feature
  • SobiPro, not sure if they offer integration (a lot of their documentation site is for paying customers.)

Hello CK ,

Sorry for late reply to this,

Yes, it seems like RS Directory, Moset Trees, and SobiPro you mentioned do not have offer integration yet.

Regarding with your Jreviews question, yes all of their code is encoded, but if you would like to customize something, i think you have to consult with Jreviews, because look like you already compared with other directory extension, plus those directory extension is not suit with your needs in your current requirement.

@Arlex, your statement that "all of the JReviews code is encoded" is not true. JReviews has hundreds, if not thousands of files, and of those, about 5 are encoded and those 5 files are only used in the administration which gives you 100% freedom to customize the entire front-end of the site. Not only that, but the majority of the code that someone would want to customize in the administration is also available for customization. So for example, lets say you want to add or modify some configuration settings then you are also easily able to do that. Furthermore, lets say you wanted to add an entirely new administration page then you can also do that. We've been in business almost 9 years now, completely dedicated to this single product and in that entire time we've never heard of one client that was not able to make the customizations they wanted because a file was encoded.

Hello guys,

I am really sorry for the confusions but my colleague here may have misunderstood the initial question. As Alejandro stated, only 5 files are encoded and not everything is encoded. Most of the other files are actually open and can be customized
