Hi
I'm wondering about desktop/mobile notifications ?
I don't see this anywhere
This is a HUGE part of the "other" social media platform.
Any chance I just missed it ?
Thanks
Danny
To be frank with you guys we have experimented with all sorts of different ways and believe me, setting up an app on Apple Developer and Google is not going to be an easy task. It's even more difficult than creating an app on Facebook for autoposting. This would only result in more support requests which will hog our time

Anyway, what I have been experimenting is cool stuffs like browser notifications but that requires user to have the site opened at least. Not sure if this is going to make it into the core but definitely as a separate app for users who want it.

Hello Danny,

Desktop notifications is a pretty tedious process because your site needs to be on https and not only that, you would need to create the respective apps on Apple Developer (Safari) and Google (Chrome) before browser notifications can be activated

Hi Mark
Thanks for your reply (always a pleasure ;-))
Ya, I imagine it's not something that's coded in an hour ...
The thing is, it's amazingly important for the increased interaction it generates from the community that aren't always on the page per se.
It really should be something you consider seriously (in my opinion).

Maybe a Chrome app could solve this problem and maybe it is easier to make? Or maybe just a dektop programm that stays in the tray until a notification appears. I think just having the three symbols with the same notifications as on EasySocial would be amazing! In my opinion the addon being the nofitications module would be perfect. The cherry on top of the cream would be the stream in windows tray that opens when there is a new entry made to the stream, but I am afraid of having too many dreams.

The thing is, it's amazingly important for the increased interaction it generates from the community that aren't always on the page per se.

I totally agree with Danny that it would be a big step forward since nowadays emails are pretty bad because most people just wipe them away or do not even care about emails or even worse, the mails go directly into spam folders...

I recall the team over at MyJoomla.com having this. Not sure if you know them ? Their solution has notifications but like you mention, i suspect the site needs to be opened. That would be cool too.
Thanks for your replies!
