Hi,

That field is necessary and mandatory for Joomla to work properly.

Jason is correct, name and username are both required fields for joomla to work correctly. However there is no reason why these fields could not contain the same data, it is in theory possible to recode the username field to write to both the name and username entries in the database, and bypass the need for the name field. Rewriting the username field would not be that difficult at all, convincing EasySocial that is doesn't need the name field is beyond my limited coding ability, and you would need to contact a PHP coder for (i am guessing) 15 minutes of work.

Hi,

Actually we are discouraging against using username as name because we do not allow spaces in username.

Hi,

As mentioned before, this is not possible given the restriction of Joomla's core requirement.

What you can do is hide the fields when the user is Editing their profile in EasySocial -> Profiles -> Select Profile -> Custom Fields -> Click on a field -> View -> View in Edit -> No.
