I am running Easy Blog version 3.9.15155 on Joomla 3.2.0. I have setup a cron job in the control panel of my web hosting server following the instructions posted on the stackideas site. I ran a manual test of the retrieve by going to http://www.pcmwindow.org/joomla30/index.php?option=com_easyblog&task=cron. The first time I try I get an alert saying it cannot connect to mailbox. A second time it runs through fine. However, there are no new blogs posted from the e-mails waiting in my mailbox. Can you please advise where I might look for more log information or ways to figure out where the problem will be? Thanks!

Brad
Hello Brad,

I've set up a cronjob for you and it runs correctly now. Please have a look. By the way, I've checked your cpanel, you have one task which is cronfeed. This might be the issue. cronfeed is for Feed Importers: http://screencast.com/t/s2uSdZr8l . Hope this helps.

Hello Brad,

I have checked the site and it looks like you have enabled the option "Map email to the user's email". This causes email that exists on the site to be accepted. Otherwise it wouldn't be accepted. I have turned this option off, can you try this again now?

Hello, Mark, and thanks for your help! I see what you mean. Unfortunately, the e-mails are still not being retrieved and posted. I confirmed there are 3 unread e-mails waiting in the Inbox of that mailbox, and the connection test was a Success from the Easy Blog component.

Hello Brad,

So sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Can you send us the login for your webmail that has the unread messages? We will need it to perform some tests. Please advice.

Thanks!

Greetings! That's surprising there were problems logging in. I have re-entered the info into this response and confirmed they worked this morning. Let me know if it gives you any more trouble. Thanks!

Hello,

Thanks for the login. I made some changes to the Remote Publishing settings. The mails should be fetching fine now if you have a cronjob running correctly Hope this helps.

Thanks!

Well, it looks like the cron job ran once fine and posted the 3 e-mails that were waiting. However, I sent another fresh e-mail today and it still hasn't gone through. I set the cron job to run every 5 minutes. Any suggestions on what to look at to resolve? Thanks for your continued help!

Hello Brad,

So sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Are you sure the cron is running correctly? I ran the cron manually and the posts was fetched. Please send me your cPanel access so that I can check out your cron. Please advice.

Thanks!

Thank you for your continued work and patience on this issue. I have included the CPanel information here. When I asked my provider for the location of the wget files, they told me:

"/usr/bin/wget -O http://pcmomaha.org/pmbp/casovac.php > /dev/null
/usr/bin/wget -O http://pcmomaha.org/joomla30/index.php?option=com_easyblog&task=cron > /dev/null"

Let me know if you need any more info. Thanks!

A little wrinkle ... not sure if it's related ... cron jobs are still working great but notifications to subscribers on categories are not going out. Related or new topic? Thanks!

Hello Brad,

Not too sure if I understand you here. How about the rest of the e-mail notifications? Do they get sent ?

Hey Mark ... there are no e-mail notifications going out from Easy Blog right now. I confirmed there are e-mail addresses subscribed for the categories I've been adding posts to, but e-mail alerts of new posts are not going out. I've tried adjusting the Joomla SMTP settings to the three options it gives me but no change.

Hello Brad,

I've tested your mail notification by subscribing to the Care Line category. And the email is sent successfully: http://screencast.com/t/r4frLWP7B . Did I miss anything? Please advise.

Hey Nik ... got some interesting results going on right now. Might be by design, might just be a misunderstanding on my part.

E-mail requests sent into prayerrequests@pcmwindow.org are being posted automatically via the cron job now. Thank you very much for your help with that!
However, the new post is also automatically uploaded to our Facebook page. I did create a centralized autoposting config for our Facebook page, but I have uploads by default set to No. Not sure why the remote publishing bypasses the shutdown autoposting settings.
Also, there are no e-mail notifications for the new post sent to subscribers. I did confirm that notifications to subscribers work fine if a new post is made through the front and back end.

Any questions, let me know. Thanks for your continued help and Happy New Year!

Hello Brad,

So sorry for the delay in getting back to you. If you want to disable autoposting in remote posting please go to this file

JOOMLA/components/com_easyblog/helpers/microblog.php

and then remove the codes
	$blog->autopost( array( EBLOG_OAUTH_LINKEDIN , EBLOG_OAUTH_FACEBOOK , EBLOG_OAUTH_TWITTER ) , array( EBLOG_OAUTH_LINKEDIN , EBLOG_OAUTH_FACEBOOK , EBLOG_OAUTH_TWITTER ) );

from line 411 Hope this helps.

Thanks!
