I wanted to use the feed importer but was told by my hoster that my account does not cater for wget cronjob.
I realise that the importer is something I cannot use for that reason unless there is a different way to import feeds
Hello Pieter,

Hm, not really sure why they do not allow wget but do they support running "php" scripts in the cronjob?

Hi Mark,

I have checked with my hoster and I am allowed to use php script in a cronjob as long as there is no wget in it.
May be it has to do with the type of hosting contract :-)

If they allow executing PHP scripts then it's better than nothing Can you please provide us with the following access and I will set them up for you?

1. Joomla admin access
2. FTP access
3. Cpanel access to setup the cronjob

Hello Pieter,

Thanks, I have added the cronjob for the site but I am not too sure of the absolute path to the php script. Can you just check with your hosting provider on how one could invoke the php via cron?

Mark,

Can you tell me whereabout you added the script?

The hoster promised me to create the cronjob if I had the script (if that helps)

Pieter

Hello Pieter,

I have created the file /components/com_easyblog/cron.php so they just need PHP to execute this file

Hi Mark,

My hoster set up a cronjob on the server for every hour with this url:
On the cPanel, however, I can see a cronjob that looks like this: php /home/legerdes/public_html/components/com_easyblog/cron.php >/dev/null 2>&1
I presume that you set up the job in the cPanel for me?
Anyway nothing is coming out of it anyhow
Somehwere along the line something is not quite right.
Can you please check for me? The access is still there...

Rgrds, Pieter

Hello Pieter,

Hm, that cron job was actually created by me but you need to ask them what is the absolute path to "php" because most of the time, you need to specify the absolute path to the php binary.
