Is there an easy way to create a link in the left sidebar of Easy Social that goes to a library of all the files uploaded by all members of the group?
Hello Jim,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. By default when you clicked on the "Files" app it will render a file manager within the groups. Is this not sufficient?

I have enabled the file applications and all users can upload files. The files appear in each users stream.

but I'm looking for a way to create a persistent link on the left sidebar that appears in all users' profiles and allows them to see all files that have been uploaded by all users. Is that possible?

On the dashboard, there is a "Files" filter for the stream as you can see here, http://take.ms/UQqTL

Is this not sufficient enough?

Mark,
I think your suggestion would work but I cannot figure out how to turn on the "Filters" section in the left column. I've worked through all of the EasySocial modules and the Dashboard settings but must be overlooking something. Can you tell me how to turn it on for users? I am assuming once I have that info, I'll also be able to specify which items are available to users for filtering.
Thanks!
Jim

Hi Jim,
Perhaps you can try sharing a file then refresh the page. After that, see if the files filter is under Filter on the left sidebar.
If this doesn't work, perhaps you can provide us your backend access at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site so we can help you out with this issue?

Hey Jim,
I checked your site and it seems your dashboard application filter is turned off(screenshot). I have helped you enable the setting in Themes>Wireframe>Dashboard>Display Application Filters.
You should be able to see those filters now in the dashboard. Do note that the Profile and Groups page still does not have those filters because the settings is still off in those pages. If you want to turn it on, you have to enable it in the Themes page where I helped you enable the dashboard app filter. Hope this helps.

Thank you. Very helpful.
Two follow-on questions:
1. It appears that the Filter/Files function shows only the specific user's file uploads. Is there a setting to make it show all file uploads from all users?
2. Can you tell me where the directory is that Easy Social uses to store uploaded files?
Thanks!

Hey Jim,
You're welcome.
It appears that the Filter/Files function shows only the specific user's file uploads. Is there a setting to make it show all file uploads from all users?
Unfortunately, currently it is not possible to view all uploaded files from the whole site. Perhaps you can add this in our EasySocial voice page. We will consider this once there are many votes on this.
For now, the closest you can get to achieve this is through a group as mentioned by Mark in the first reply of this post. Members of a group would be able to view all uploaded files from anyone in the same group.
2. Can you tell me where the directory is that Easy Social uses to store uploaded files?
The directory for all files uploaded is in this directory: JoomlaFolder\media\com_easysocial\files
The uploaded files would appear in the folders where the file is uploaded. For instance, if it's uploaded in a group, it will be stored under groups/groupID.

I have put all users into a common group but the Filter/Files link for any user still shows only that user's files.

If I go into the group level, I can see the shared file manager. That could work for our purposes.
Is there a way to force a specific group level as the default view for users when they log in?
If so, then I will optimize that group view and turn off any other modules that might confuse users.
Then we'll instruct them to use the file manager to upload files.

Thanks

Hey Jim,
You can try creating a menu item that links to the single group item page.
Then, select this setting here: Settings>Users>Authentication>Login Redirection>groupPageMenuItem
Do note that if you use this menu item, all users will be redirected here upon login, even users not in the group.
