Emails are not sending. is this the correct link?

http://clientonly.americas.nttdata.com/index.php?option=com_komento&task=cron
Hello Larry,

Yes, that is the correct link. If you click on it, you will see "Email batch proccessed." means the cron URL is working. Can you provide us your backend and FTP access so we can have a better look on your issue here? Also, there might be an issue with your Cronjob setup, it is better if you can also provide us your cpanel access as well.

Nik, for easy blog, yes. for komento, emails are not sending as scheduled. the cron runs and is successful. Today, 4 days after a comment was posted, it looks like some emails sent because I got out of office notifications in the mailbox.

Nik, yes, Cron-job.org works well. For easyblog, I have it set to execute each hour and it works without issue. With Komento, it appears to do nothing. I have tried 2x today to execute the cron and the emails are still sitting in state 0 in the admin panel.

Hello Larry,

Is it possible for you to provide us your backend and FTP access so that I can check your issue from here?

By the way, in the future you can just include your site's access once at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site rather than needing to keep adding them in your replies.

The cron is running successfully, but emails don't come for days. In comparison, the easyblog cron runs every hour and they come immediately.

Hey Larry,

Could it be that they are actually in the "Spam" folder? Most of the time, people didn't realize this. If EasyBlog's email notification works fine, Komento's notification should work fine as well.

Also, check the mail activities at the back end of Komento to see if they are all marked as sent. If the problems still persists, please start a new ticket on our forum desk

Hey Larry,

Yes, 0 means that it isn't sent yet. I believe your mail settings in Joomla's Global Configuration is incorrect. You should check with your network / system administrator for the correct email settings.

Mark, overall settings are fine as all other emails including easyblog send just fine and immediately. The komento emails take 5-7 days to send. There has to be a reason for this. The cron-job runs every hour and has been doing so for a long time. So in the past 7 days, the cron has run 1440 times and the emails come 5 -7 days later.

Hi Larry,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply.

I've take a look on our Komento source code internally and confirm that there should be no issue that can caused the sent mail from failing. All that Komento did was sent the email data to Joomla email function and the rest will be handle by the Joomla itself.

Perhaps if you can provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access it will be easier for us to figure out the exact cause to this issue on your site.

Please advise.

I can provide back end access, but not FTP. FTP is not allowed by my company's security team. I do not see the box to provide below.

Hi Larry,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply.

I've checked your site and seems like you are using SMTP as your joomla mailer settings. There are numerous issue that are related with SMTP where they are failed to setup the mailler correctly such as incorrect smtp from email address, smtp server name, and the security settings. Here is one of the example, https://www.rsjoomla.com/forum/37-rsform-pro/20596-why-the-following-from-address-failed.html .

Perhaps you can try to use PHP Mailer since instead from your backend > global configuration > server > mail settings so that your site will directly use your server email rather than SMTP server to process the email and see how it goes.

Ezrul, I appreciate you looking at this, but I do not think you are understanding the issue.

The issue is that Komento sends the emails 5-7 days after the cronjob runs. All other emails on the site run perfectly with the SMTP mail settings, which is how my IT department lets me send. Easyblog sends without issue when the cron runs, jdownloads sends immediately when something is added, registration emails send without problem and news alerts go with no issue.

The ONLY issue is that Komento takes this 5-7 days to send the email after the cron runs. Something in the code is causing it and others have posted that they are having the same issue.

Thank you
Larry

Hi Larry,

I would love to continue debug on the issue but we need FTP access to confirm if something went wrong inside the komento code email dispatcher. Other users that using the same version of Komento are not having the same issue as yours so far.

Seeing from the original code, it should get send out to joomla mail system immediately when the cron is triggered. If the mail got dispatched correctly from joomla, the state will be automatically update to '1'. However in your site, the state remains '0' means something is not right with your joomla email configurations.

By the way, this is more to an assumption as we don't have the access to your FTP to directly debug it. Hope you understand.

hey Larry,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply,

I've tried a few testing in your site :

Testing 1 : Easyblog subscription
--------------------------------------------------

I tried to subscribe one of your blog category page, then I waiting your site cronjob process, I wonder how long you configure with your Easyblog cronjob interval time? Because I wait for 20 minute+ these pending email still haven't send it out. So I have to manually execute the cronjob through the cron URL http://clientonly.americas.nttdata.com/index.php?option=com_easyblog&task=cron
Then I received this subscription confirmation email. you can check my screenshot here : http://screencast.com/t/bcMeCmQy

Testing 2 : Komento comment
---------------------------------------------

I do the same thing like post a comment on one of the article in your site, then I use another new user account reply him. So the system will notify my email address as well, then I wait for your cron run but until 20minute ++ it seems like no any cronjob run for Komento, so I manually run the cronjob URL for Komento http://clientonly.americas.nttdata.com/index.php?option=com_komento&task=cron

Then I received that new comment notification, you can check my email in my attached screenshot below.

It seems work fine if manually run the cronjob URL execute and send out the email to your user.

By the way, is it possible provide us with some of your cronjob configuration page screenshot. so we can better have a look is it configure correctly with that cron command? Because I suspect everything is run correctly but it seems like the cronjob is not configure correctly, since we unable to access with your cpanel.

Looking forward of your response.

Thank you for testing. I utilize cronjob.org to execute my crons. The easyblog cron runs every hour on the hour and never has an issue. Works every time. The Komento Cron also runs each hour, but at 1:30 so they do not overlap.

I have run the Komento cron job manually more time than I can count and NEVER has the email come before 5 days.

Please see screen shots for both of my crons (timing) and then the details of Komento.

I do not understand how you run the komento cron manually and it works immediately and I run it and it takes 5 days.

Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

What I mentioned above that manually run the cron URL into browser is exactly same as what you configure that cron URL from your task scheduler ( http://clientonly.americas.nttdata.com/index.php?option=com_komento&task=cron )

May i know your Easyblog cron interval time also same as what you set to Komento? (screenshot : http://screencast.com/t/JIiAEPefhOF )

If yes, can you temporary set this Komento cron interval time to 5minute? (screenshot : http://screencast.com/t/nrpHvFIwsbT )

Also may i know your server task scheduler is it got provided a mail cron? For example : http://screencast.com/t/qsiT6Sm0 , if got this mail cron, you can enter your email address from that mail cron then wait for 5 minute , and check your mailbox and see what server response.

Thank you for the response. With regards to your questions.

1. Yes, same configuration, BUT it runs on the hour while Komento runs on the :30. This is so they do not conflict. I have played with having this run more often and got the same result.

2. I do not use CPanel as you have shown. I use cron-job.org and stopped using the task scheduler on my windows server some time ago.

Hi Alex - I can test when another comment gets posted. How is this extension different from cron-job.org? From what you wrote above, it sounds like it is sending the emails immediately? Currently, all of the queue is at a 1.

Can you attempt to explain why this works immediately while the windows task scheduler (no longer used) and cron-job.org don't?

Thanks
Larry

A comment was posted a few minutes ago and nothing was sent at this time. All emails in queue are set to 0 at the moment. I do not see how to trigger the XTcronjob extension that you installed. Additionally, what is the field Cronjob Expression for?

Based on the settings, it appears that the cron is set to run every minute?

Thanks

To be honestly, I never use this cron-job.org before, so I am not really sure what is the different between XTCronjob extension and why it doesn't work. But what I know is if that is free without charge anything, I guess they will not provide unlimited cron service or cron time can't be set below 1 hour.

A comment was posted a few minutes ago and nothing was sent at this time. All emails in queue are set to 0 at the moment. I do not see how to trigger the XTcronjob extension that you installed. Additionally, what is the field Cronjob Expression for?

Actually what this XTCronjob extension task is similar with other cronjob service. The field Cronjob Expression is time interval for example :

// minute | hour | Day | Month | weekday
// what i set now is 5 minute per time
*/5 * * * *

I just checked from the last cron process time, it seems like it will process every between 10 - 5 minute.

Once I ran manually, the emails were sent immediately.

I would like to suggest do not run cron URL manually from your browser, because you can't ensure that cron is it got process and send out the pending email or not.

Yes, you can temporary remove your Komento cron from cron-job.org first.

By the way, may i know is it send out the email now for the Komento?
