I setup easysocial in a sandbox while I was designing and configuring everything.
I've added several custom fields and set various params as needed.
Now I want to copy all this configuration into the live site. Because the site where it needs to go is live, the user, profile, avatars, etc, will be different then is on the sandbox so I don't think I can do a straight "copy" of the database.
We're migrating from jomsocial to easysocial if that makes any difference.
Would you please explain to me how to do this without having to manually set everything all over again.
Hello Troy,

I've discussed this with Sam and the only way around this is to perform the migration on your live site when you are ready and to be honest, it's best that you re-create those custom fields on the live site because there could be new user changes on your current live site which may cause the database table to go out of sync later

In short, this is what you should do:

1. Install EasySocial on your site (JomSocial and EasySocial can be running side by side without an issue)

2. Temporarily turn off the live site

3. Migrate jomsocial profiles and users over to EasySocial

4. Re-setup your configuration

5. Test, and see if everything works fine on the site.

6. If all is okay, re-open the site

6a. If there's a failure or error, contact us

Hello Troy,

I've added several custom fields and set various params as needed.

May i know if you added these custom fields after you migrated your JomSocial's custom fields into your EasySocial or you are adding these custom fields on EasySocial default profile?
Can i assume you only want to bring over the new custom fields with no user's data from dev site to your live site? Maybe you can tell me what you've did on your dev site, e.g. created new profile type? or new profile category and etc so that I can suggest you accordingly.

Please advise.

i imported jomsocial then in easysocial created the custom fields... I THINK it was in the profiler.
oh boy, what all did I do.. hmm...
selected and started modifiying dark theme for better color coordination.
'locked down" and flipped several other switches like registered users only on several items, and then added a few fields to basic and several on a new tab called "game info" ( feel free to go look )

on the current site, I will need to install easy social, import ALL kunena & jomsocial data, including video's, photos, wall posts, avatars, profile info, etc... \
i need easy social to be as much of a "drop in replacement" as humanely possible.
I can't seem to see where to put video's or events in easysocial so that kinda has me worried.
the dev site is out of sync with the current site due to daily / constant use of the new site, so I will need to start over if you will when we move it over.
I'm planning on needing the site down for 1 hour to make sure everything goes well, event hough I only expect it to take 10-30 min.
Does that help?

Hi Troy,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

Em, I am afraid you will need to redo on the custom fields parts because you are working on the migrated data from JomSocial As for the themes or any php codes, you can just bring over to your live site. So my advise is, you have no choice but to resetup the custom fields after you run the migration from the live site again. The rest you can just copy from your dev site into your live site.

Hope this help and have a nice day

RATS!
we're talking about this section here? ( see image )
do I copy the files or db tables over?
what above the other configuration settings or should I just manually compare and set?

Hello Troy,

As we do not support videos currently, these items are not migrated yet Once we fully support videos and events on 1.3, we'll add in the migration as well

so think we should leave the video's in their folder for now? the plan is is to uninstall JS once we go live with easysocial. though I guess we could leave JS in, just would be out of sync wouldn't it?

Hi Troy,

Yes, you will need to leave the videos files on your server for future use when video migration available

Not to worry about the data as for those items already migrated, if you re-run the migrator, it will not re-import the data. So in this case, it will only migrate videos
So after you've switch over to EasySocial, you can disable JomSocial component from your Joomla extension manager

Hope this help and have a nice day
