I cannot upload reliably (if at all) the group avatar and cover photo for groups I have set up. I have noted previous posters having the same problem with a fix in the current version to address it. If that was the case then I have a different problem with the same symptoms.

Log into the system then components/easysocial/groups and try to upload image files. The cover does load but the group avatar just sits there and doesn't complete. If I try to save I get a disconnect error.

Saving just the cover works as you will see if you check your local group
Hello Richard Moore,

Sorry for late reply to this,
When I tried to upload the image file in your backend Easysocial group avatar then hitting this :

404
You don't have permission to access /media/com_easysocial/tmp/f4c404990b683e7c9e6466e8643e551c_avatar/26c0a08f557702dd4bdb491e5eab8ab3on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Founderror was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

The most likely is because of the file permission issue, that mean when you upload the group avatar image that moment, it cannot create the tmp folder itself,
hence when the script try to access this path :
/media/com_easysocial/tmp/f4c404990b683e7c9e6466e8643e551c_avatar/26c0a08f557702dd4bdb491e5eab8ab3on
// f4c404990b683e7c9e6466e8643e551c_avatar/26c0a08f557702dd4bdb491e5eab8ab3on <- image file

Then the server show out 404 Error, so you have to consult this with your Webhosting provider to help you set read + write permission to media folder and see how it goes.

I think it's actually something to do with Admin Tools . I have managed to upload something from the front end. Will investigate more tomorrow

Moved onto other work for the moment. It is a conflict with Admin Tools but only in so much as it's configuration issue. ES wouldn't be the first app that needs some exceptions within the web application firewall of Admin Tool. I just need to work out what and where they are. I can upload from the front end but as AT provides protection options for both front and backend that's not completely surprising. For the moment I have other more pressing work. Leave this open and I will do some more work on it.
