Hello

If you try to view an Open Event in an Open Group, and you are not a member of the group, you get the following error: "You have to be a member of the group to view this event."

All the content of an Open Group is visible to non-members, I think events in group should as well. But maybe the user should not be able to attend (in my case it would be OK if he can, but I'm thinking of other ES customers who may think he should not ).

Regards

.Fixed in ES 1.4.1
Hi Altitudes,

Thanks for your suggestion.

Yes, by default if the user is not this group member, so the system will be request the user join the Open group only can access the event.

But we will see if all our customer disagree with this, we will change this default behaviour in the future.

Hello

In an Open Group, a user (not member of the group) can see everything: albums, discussions... He should be able to see events as well and I think other ES customers will agree with that.
If ever some customers want to have the old behavior, then ES should offer the possibility to create Closed Events in Open Groups. This is an extension of the following Feature Request I created some time ago: Create open Events in closed Groups.

Hello Altitudes,

What makes you think that all our customers would agree to this? The reason that the events in group was created this way because this was initially requested by our customers Unfortunately right now we will not be altering this behavior.

Hello

If some of your customers are happy with the current behaviour then obviously you can't change it. And the only solution will be offering the ability to create open or closed events in groups as I suggested in my first message. I will ad this as a Feature Request in the existing request Create open Events in closed Groups.

By the time this is implemented (I know, one day... ;-) ) I am afraid I will have to hack ES code, because my users really need to see event details in groups without joining the group (because joining means getting a lot of notifications they are not wanting for this group).

Regards

Hi,

Thanks for updating us back. We'll see if we can implement this in the future.

Have a nice day.

Hello

Just one more thing I did not realize before: a user not member of the group can't see the event details, but he can attend the event (from the events list)...
He should do none or both (what I hoped), but what we have now is somehow inconsistent.

Hello Altitudes,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

I've applied a temporary fix inside your /media/com_easysocial/apps/group/events/themes/default/groups/default.php and /media/com_easysocial/apps/group/events/views/groups/view.html.php to restrict the non-member to be able to view the event listing.

Can you verify it for me?

Hello

My last post was just to say "we need to have a comprehensive discussion about this" and I prefer you revert the change you just did.

This because:
- User can still attend from the Events menu (list of events of all groups, personal events...)
- If you consider that in the group he should not see the event list, then maybe the Event Apps should not be displayed at all. This is what has been done for the Files app for example.
- And the previous things I said

So can you please revert your change? And we will discuss this altogether later.

Thank you

Hello Altitudes,

I am sorry for the confusion caused. I have reverted back the change on your site.

By the way by right the event listing in personal event page should not display the event inside the group. May I know which Events menu that you are talking about?
