Hi,

We are using Jomsocial 3.2.1.2.
I can not change the number item of "My blog entries" in profile page.
I changed setting in "My blog entries" plugin and clear all cache of server but It is not effective.
The default value is 10 we change it to 4 but they are not affected.
Please help me figure it out.

BR.

P/S: I attached a link to access a profile page. Please use it to debug.
Hello Cheryl,

I have updated the plugin and it should now respect the global settings of the plugin. It previously only checks for the user preferences (When you edit the apps on the front end of JomSocial)

Hi,

I do not know exactly what you meant but I don't see the change.
Maybe you misunderstand what I meant.
I did not mention about configuration in back end not change.
Although I change configuration in back-end, number of items of "My blog entries" in profile page is always 10.
Please recheck this or let me know if I miss any idea from you.

Hello Cheryl,

I have already applied the hack on the Blog plugin for JomSocial. If you have set it to 4, it will only display 4 blog posts on your profile. If it is still showing up as 10, please provide me with the URL to your profile so that I can test this.

Hello Cheryl,

I am really sorry, I missed your post earlier. I have checked your site and it looks like there's actually no issues with the code at all. The problem is actually because in the "Edit Layout" page in JomSocial, it allows you to configure the number of items to show in the app settings. It was previously set to 10 but I have now modified the plugin so that it respects the plugin settings instead of the "Edit Layout" page since you don't have such menu on the site.

Hi,

Thanks for your support.
Could you direct me to "Edit Layout" page ?
I know a layout configuration in Jomsocial but there are no setting for blog post item.
From the back-end, JomSocial/Configuration/Layout.
It seems that you modified plugin but I do not want any modified code.
If this is a bug from you please let know. I will allow this modified code if necessary.

Thanks.

P/S I am a developer of Cheryl. Please let me know what did you do in source code or configuration.

Hello Cheryl Viirand,

You're welcome, we will glad to help you as much as we can.
Yes, that was make sense but unfortunately that was not possible to do this in current system.
Then you should revert back as Mark help you did that customization file in previous reply.

I already renamed that customization file easyblog.php to easyblog.php_bak(Mark customization file) in JoomlaFolder/plugins/community/easyblog/easyblog.php

So you can manually to rename the file easyblog.php to easyblog.php_original
then you will see another file call easyblog.php_bakand rename back to easyblog.php

Hope this help.

Thank you. I have another question.
There is a configuration in " My Blog Entries" plugin name "Max Count" and the hint is "The max number of blog entries to display".
As my understanding, this will affect to number of blog entries.
Could you tell me exactly what does that mean ?
I don't know this configuration use for what.

Thanks.

Hi.

Sorry for my late reply.
That particular settings is to limit the number of blog posts that appears on your profile.

As you said, this is the configuration for number of blog items on profile page.
Why is it not affect when I change the number ?
Normal user can not access to "Edit Layout" page because there is no link to be there.
Therefore, with normal logic, all profile pages have to follow plugin configuration.
Please explain this for me.

Hello Cheryl,

As mentioned by Arlex earlier, he helped you to revert the changes that I made because of the way you are using JomSocial. Since you do not allow users to access the edit layout page to configure the plugin settings, I have actually enforced the plugin to ensure that it always inherit from the settings of the plugin rather than the user.

I have reverted to the modified file and it now respects the number of posts that you set in the plugin settings.

Hello Cheryl,

Sorry for the confusions but I think there is some misunderstandings here. The plugin itself, has the ability to configure the number of posts which appears on the profile. However, you have set the plugin to work as a core plugin (In other words, the user would not be able to configure the number of posts on the front end). This is why, although you have set the entries to 4, it is displaying it as 20 since you previously already set this as your user.

Can you kindly please check if it is respecting the settings like how you want it to be?

Can you please let me know what you are trying to achieve here? If you want to set the number of blog entries that appears on the profile, you can do so by editing the plugin.

Hello Cheryl,

To set the number of maximum blog posts that appears on the profile, you can do so by editing the plugin and set the 'Max Count' settings.

Hi,

The "Max Count" setting is affected but I saw you modified our source code.
Did you change file "/plugins/community/easyblog/easyblog.php" ?
I compared with my original file and I see that their is a different in line 240.
You changed "$this->userparams" to "$this->params".
I told you that I do not want any modified code unless it is necessary.
Please help me clear this.

Hello Cheryl,

Like I have posted earlier, the reason why it was modified is because of your usage in JomSocial. You have configured the application so that it displays 20 entries when you edit your layout. Since you have removed the ability to edit the layout as a user, you wouldn't be able to reconfigure it again.

Thank you very much.
I understood what you mean. It seems that only user setting is apply.
I suggest you have a check here. If user have no setting about this, you will get the core setting.
I think it is not difficult and I hope you improve this in next release.
Modify source code is work around solution.

Thanks again and best regards..
