Can I set Categories to be the default landing page? Also, how can I set up Forum Categories on the sidebar just like you have here?
If you mean by "default" that the first page your user see when going to your forum, then you just need to create a categories menu item. Now if you want to redirect to categories layout when for example a user click the home button on the toolbar, then I guess there must be a little tweak that Stackideas team can give you but I personally can't help with that

For the categories sidebar, I guess they just created a Category module.

Hope this help.

How do I set up a module? Basically, I would like to set up the forum like this one, with the clean look of categories to the right of the page. Image attached.

Thanks!

Hello Brett,

The one that you see on our forums are customized for our site. You could style the categories module to any style you want.

Hi from what I understand, you are learning how joomla work. Explaining how to create a module and how to style them would take a while...

The best and fastest way to learn joomla is through Video tutorials. There is a lot of joomla tutorial on youtube but it can be confusing if you don't know what to look for exactly. If you can afford a subscription, then you should check out OStraning. They offer very good joomla tutorials for all levels and joomla support as well.

Hope this help.

Thank you, aikigi! I know how to use Joomla and modules, etc. I just wanted to set it so when someone clicks on the forum from the joomla main menu, the categories show first when they land on the page, not the discussions. It's a setting in the backend. I figured it out an looks good now. HOWEVER, I loaded the categories module, and can't get it to look like yours here (clean and has the red notification circles). Is there a setting I'm missing?

Hello Brett,

The categories module we are using is a custom made only for our site.

LOL! I just purchased this extension because I liked the features and how it looked on your site, especially the categories module with the red circles, notifying the user that here are unanswered questions. Would think you would showcase the product you are actually selling? Is there anyway to get this? I'm a long-time Easyblog user and like you guys! Help me out!

Hello Brett,

Sorry but we don't have any plan to release this custom module yet. But we will discuss this with our developers/designers. Thanks for using our products.

Thank you. Another question: Is there a way to create custom forms for registration? I need to be able to get them to check a box that states they agree with the terms and conditions. And I also need to be able to link to the terms and conditions via the registration form. Thanks!

Hello Brett,

If you are not using EasySocial, the registration form is utilizing the stock com_users registration form and unfortunately we can't alter this particular form You can however, give EasySocial a try as it would allow you to easily customize your registration form

Ok, perhaps I should start from the start. I need a Q&A forum extension for Joomla! 3.x that has the feature of showing there are unanswered questions waiting, and I need to have a custom registration form. Do you have anything like that? Will easysocial do that? If you do not provide that, do you know who does?

I attached an image of the customization I need on the registration form. I need it to reject registration if they click no, and continue to accept registration if they click yes. Is that possible with EasyDiscuss or EasySocial or any product you have?

Thank you for your time!

Brett

Hello Brett,

EasyDiscuss is a Q&A extension for Joomla and it does displays the unanswered questions. As for the "registration", you might want to try out EasySocial as it allows you to customize your registration form but I don't seem to see any images in your post though

EasyDiscuss module does not display unanswered questions.

As for registration form, I need to add just one line for terms and conditions. So there is no way to do that in easydiscuss? When you say EasySocial, is that an integration with easydiscuss, or would I have to use easysocial as the forum in order to have registration form custom?

image attached.

Hello Brett,

Yes you could integrate it with EasyDiscuss if you want as there's a settings built into EasyDiscuss. You can try the registration of EasySocial here, http://demo.stackideas.com/registration

Thanks. I'll give it a try. Will it be the same as EasyDiscuss, just with the custom registration form?

Also, please let me know when you develop a module extension that shows categories that are unanswered in red as you have here on your site. That would make this PERFECT! I want my people to be able to go to the main page and easily see what categories have questions that are not answered. The current way, it shows ALL categories that are unanswered, so they then have to scroll through to see which category matches their assignment. Hope that makes sense.

Hello Brett,

Yes, Easydiscuss will stay as it is. You just use the register form from Easysocial. Whenever your user want to register, they will be directed to Easysocial registration page.
please let me know when you develop a module extension that shows categories that are unanswered in red as you have here on your site

Sure, we will let you know.

Thanks for using our product.

I too would like to see an 'out of the box' categories module that mirrors the look and function of what you have on your site, particularly the visual for unanswered posts.

Thank you,
Trevor
