Critical Issue with BETA... Just realised there is no navigation menu at all when viewing on iPhone (or small screen).

I expected a drop down hamburger to appear on the right (or similar) but nothing....

I tried the instructions at https://www.joomshaper.com/documentation/helix-framework/helix3#menu-settings-customization but that doesn't work either... the idea is right though - the ability to have another menu on small screen devices.
Hi Andy,

Good day to you,

Actually, we have incorporated the mobile menu under sidebar. It will only be appeared on mobile: http://take.ms/Xv6JO . You may set it from the module option: http://take.ms/bvVoj .

Thanks and have a wonderful day ahead.

...but something's not right.. for guests all they see is the login box... surely we don't want to force mobile and small screen users to login before they can see the main navigation of the site???!!!

Hi Andy,

Erm yeah... You have a point there. We'll see if we can render the menu together with the login form on the sidebar for guest.

...as well as my comment just added above, also noting that the menu doesn't render when my laptop screen window is small (and I think in past tests this equates to an iPad screen). I can see it from my iPhone, but not on small screen window on my laptop....

Can you raise a team discussion on this? I really think it's a huge user-experience disaster to not have a reliable way to access main navigation menu. As Vanilla is still BETA, can I suggest the following for consideration:

1) You already have the User Menu nicely appearing when logged in right of the search bar - so no need to replicate it in the off-canvas sidebar

2) Dedicate the off-canvas sidebar to being able to show the main navigation - but capable of being turned off if the site admin wishes - and also able to take other modules given the offcanvas position.

3) Scrap the idea of putting the login screen in the offcanvas (user can if they wish with the flexibility given by (2) above) and instead have a Login / Join button to the right of the rather long search bar in exactly the same area the notifications appear when logged in. When clicked that button would pop-up the join / log-in screen.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for your suggestion.

The user menu on the sidebar is actually a module, in which you can turn it off. You'll be able to place any module on the [sidebar] position.

Regarding your 3rd suggestion, actually it was designed to behave as such. However, we'll take a look on this.

Thanks and have a great day.

Thanks for considering.

That's great news re: the sidebar flexibility. I hadn't realised that was possible.

So yes I just think if you take the space to the right of the search field where the notifications and avatar / user menu shows to a logged in user, and then for a non-logged in user use that same space for a login / join button... that way the login is on every screen and top right which of course is nice and standard in the web world. That way it's very clear how to log in whatever page of the site the user is on... and then the 'logged stuff' appears in exactly the same location as the 'login' button which makes for good consistency.

Thanks again for looking at the possibilities here!

Hi Andy,

Thanks for your suggestion. However, Vanilla was design to behave like that. So, if you like, you can place a future request for Vanilla and we'll see if we can implement this in the future.

Thanks and hope this help.

I've realised I (and any one else following this thread) can probably achieve this using module positions... it looks like there is a topnotification and topesmenu module position - so a 'guest only' module could be placed there... disappearing when the user is logged in. That should work!

Hi there,

I dont think so. Because this position will only available once logged in. So, if you like, you can place a future request for Vanilla and we'll see if we can implement this in the future.

Thanks and please advise.

Ah yes you're right - I thought a module position would be there regardless of logged in or out... but yes you're right it only seems to appear as a module position when user is logged in.

Not to worry - you guys are busy enough! My next plan is to use the 'right' module position and put a login module there.. that's close enough to what I'm after!

Hi there,

Thanks for your understanding.

As a gentle reminder, kindly start a new thread if you have any other issue in the future so it will be easier for us to manage your inquiry. I will lock and mark this thread as resolved.
