Hi Guys,

Out of curiosity will the planned Auto completion custom field integrate with Joomla Tags?

Chaim
Subscribed. I too am curious about the auto complete custom field. Also I'm curious if it's better to have it apply to some of the already existing ones instead of creating a new one.

Hello Guys,

I am sorry for the delayed response.

I believe the auto completion custom field will not be integrate with joomla native tags yet as from my understanding it require a lot consideration to be take in order to integrate it properly.

Ezrul,

How similar will it be to Joomla tags, will users be able to add their own tags (or will it be limited to what the site admin created)?

Hi Ck,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

This feature similar like @mentions and auto keyword suggest , in other word, the admin type a list of the value in this custom field, so when the user type something, the ajax will check what user type in and see is it matches or not, if matched, it will directly show the whole word.

Hi Arlex,

I thing it would be great if there was an option to allow users to add their own tags, otherwise it is a bit limited.

Thanks,
Chaim

Hi Arlex,

Thinking about the whole auto-complete, why create another field type rather than adding it to the existing fields?

Hi Chaim,

Thanks for your heads up on this one. We will see how we can implement this auto complete field, either by create a new field or add the auto complete feature into existing field, e.g text field

Thanks again for your feedback and your suggestion
Have a nice day!
Sam

Because of the uncertainty of this, I am holding off from creating certain custom fields so that I don't accidentally lose the ability for auto complete on certain fields. I'm glad there is consideration going into this. Hope all is well on the Stacked team's end.

HI Chaim,

It's great to see you here.

We have added this request in the EasySocial 1.4 roadmap, however, we haven't start on it yet. Our hands are quite tied up with the planned development. You can always check our progress here: http://stackideas.com/roadmap/easysocial .

Have a nice day.

Now that the field is in testing, Is it possible to get a screen shot of what it looks like?

Hi Chaim,

Unfortunately it is not possible to provide a screenshot as the final output is not yet finalized by our developers.

@josh, you should be able to change the field type in the database directly (I've done it before). Let me know if you need any info/help.
@mark, can you provide any update now that the auto-completion field is marked as complete in the roadmap?

Sounds fun. I guess the main thing is that I would be a little paranoid about breaking something based on the differences of the fields per record. It would probably be fine. ES 1.4 is around the corner, so I have patience.
