I want to apply same settings for Author layout (as I have for Category layout) to hide "Show Subscribe" and "Show Subscribe RSS" options but back end settings do not allow me to turn these off?

It seem that you search at wrong settings. To turn those setting off, go to Backend>Components>Easyblog>Settings>ACL>Type of user group>Subscriptions as shown http://prntscr.com/bviege. Hope this helps .
I made the changes as you suggest (see attached screen shot ACL settings.jpg) but when I refresh the front end it has not made any difference and "Show Subscribe" and "Show Subscribe RSS" options are still displaying (see attached screen shot (Front end Author settings.jpg)??
Sorry for the confusion earlier. I have miss-understand your issues. To disable those setting you can go Backend>Components>EasyBlog>Settings>General and check for "RSS Feeds" and "Subcriptions" then enable it as shown http://prntscr.com/bvm8qn(Subcriptions) and http://prntscr.com/bvm8vk(RSS Feeds). By the way, I have disable those setting for you. Please see how it goes. Hope this helps .
