Hi,

I use the audio block for lots of article content, and one complaint I have from users is it isn't clear how to actually download the audio file to their desktop/mobile (as many of our readers need to do this to play later offline i.e. when driving).

Currently, when a user clicks on the Download This Track it just opens the audio player in another window (and doesn't download to the desktop etc.).

At the moment I have got round this by changing the language file to say Right-click & save to download - which isn't ideal.

One way around this might be to have the Play button and a separate download link that actually triggers the Save link as (which appears when you right click).

If it can't be added as a new feature, is there any way I can adapt my own code to do this?

Kind regards

Mel
Hey Mel,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. This isn't something that can be controlled on the script. However, you can place htaccess hacks to enforce downloads of mp3 file rather than playing on the browser's player.

Take a look at this article here, http://www.saelboat.com/blog/2012/12/htaccess-guide-force-downloads-of-mp3s-pdfs-and-other-media-files-299

Hi Mark,

is it just me or does that link not work?

Thanks for response, I kind of like the way it plays in the browser, so now with the language change at least people know what to do to save it.

Thanks once again.
