Hi everyone,

I know this isn’t your problem, but you are experts, so I wondered if you or someone might quickly know what the problem is.

I've created a group with only one person in, who is going to submit jobs onto a website. I've created a frontend 'create new article' link to a specific category which is working fine.

However, under the 'Publishing' tab, there's no Status dropdown (it does, of course, appear if I'm logged in as a SuperUser).

I'm a longtime user of the excellent ACL Manager and checking in that component, I'm sure that Create, Delete, Edit, Edit State, Edit Own are all allowed on that Category.

Checking in the category in Category manager, that is also the case. This is Joomla 3.4.1.

I'm not really sure what I'm missing here! The Status dropdown does need to be there, otherwise the article seems to default as being unpublished.

Many thanks and sorry for troubling you,

Dave.
So, I've fixed this, but I think it's a workaround for a bug?! Who knows.

I've set the permissions up using ACL Manager such that Create, Delete, Edit, Edit State, Edit Own are all allowed for the component Articles, then I've removed permissions for all categories apart from the one this user can create articles in.

This doesn't seem right, but the user can now change the Status of that article.

Any thoughts, anyone???

Dave.

Hello Dave,

Hm, are you referring to the article extension in Joomla or?

Yes, the Article extension in Joomla. I had to allow this on for all categories, then deny all categories apart from the one I wanted the usergroup to be able to post into.

I've attached an image of ACL Manager - sorry it's small, but I wanted to get all the categories in the screenshot!

Thanks for listening

Dave.

Ah, I see. To be honest with you, I am not entirely sure how their inheritance really worked
