Hello SI people,

I am attaching several screenshots to show the issue.

Basic description:

SEF enabled on Joomla (search engine friendly urls) makes video uploading fail.

No SEF and it works perfectly but the URLs look messy and will not be indexed well @ Google.

The images are of 3 tests we did. A screen shot of the settings, and the final result. (1-video, 2-video etc.)

Cache was emptied and browser cache cleared for each test.

2 small points I forgot to add:

1. htaccess.txt was renamed to .htaccess when we first installed Joomla
2. This problem started about 7 days ago with no major changes to the system.

And - It seems someone else had the same issue a year ago:

Hi bridgette Patrov,

I've tried to replicate this issue locally, seems I cannot reproduce it
The way I replicate this issue:
1. Create a menu item for videos
2. Upload external video (SEF turn off)
3. Turn on SEF as your attached image (2&3)
4. Access the video that I've upload earlier.


As you cannot give us with the login credential, can you give us a details below so we can replicate is locally:
1. You current Easysocial and Joomla version
2. Menu structure for the video and it configuration of the menu
3. Upload using external video or upload video?

Hello - I am attaching 3 screenshots.

1. Joomla site settings
2. Easysocial dashboard confirming we use latest version
3. Video menu item settings

The issue is not with going to the video page. This works as expected.
The problem is when we click 'Add Video'

We don't get an option to use a link or an upload. It fails before that point.

We have the site set for external videos only. (not uploads - but links like youtube etc.)

Please let me know if you need more information.

Hi bridgette Patrov,

Thanks for cooperation I've try to replicate this issue locally and I can reproduce, seems there is a bug when select a category in "Filter by category" in the videos menu setting.
I've logged this issue in our issue tracker and our developers will take an action for this.
We will keep you update for this.

Thank you very much. We do have that filtering on but I only set it about a week ago - and yeah, that is when the issue started.

Will go change that setting until it is fixed.

Hi Mark - not resolved. It is a bug.

The workaround is to either turn SEF off. (really ugly URLs) or to not use categories on Video.

Until the bug is fixed - I just turned category choices off on video.

I marked this as resolved because it has been escalated.

However, you can try download the file attached and replace it in:
JOOMLA_FOLDER\administrator\components\com_easysocial\includes\router\adapters\videos.php

p.s: you're suggested to backup the file that you want to replace beforehand, just for precaution
